Well I've taken 2 of my Ernie Ball volume pedals and added a buffer to them and it makes all the difference in the world.
If I can get my friend with the Hilton pedal to loan it to me again I will do a A/B demo . We did it once before with a buffer on the outside of the pedal and it was pretty close to the same sound.

If you notice your sound being muffled or bassy and loss of high frequency that is when a buffer is needed .
A buffer circuit is very simply a circuit where the output is the same as the input. The better the buffer, the more similar the output is to the input. So why would you want that, sounds like it does nothing? The hidden beauty of the buffer circuit is that it has a very high input impedance and a low output impedance. This means it can reproduce a signal from a non-ideal source or send it through a non-ideal load. _________________ A couple of guitars

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus! |

Scott, is IC based you can use a variety of different OP-AMPS. I get the circuit boards from General Guitar Gadgets and do my own little twist on the components. For the Volume pedals I used the Dual buffer board and just build it up for one in and one out. I like the fact on that board you can attach the LED right to the board . There is only a $1.oo difference in their single buffer board and their dual so it made sense to me to get the dual . _________________ A couple of guitars
