Ricky Skaggs steeler?

Can somebody tell me if Ricky Skaggs is touring w a pedal steel guitar player?
I have a chance to see him Saturday night at the Paramount Theatre in St. Cloud MN...

It looks like that show will be with his Kentucky Thunder band. Kentucky Thunder includes Paul Brewster (tenor vocals, rhythm guitar), Andy Leftwich (fiddle), Eddie Faris (baritone vocals, guitar), Scott Mulvahill (bass, bass vocals), Russ Carson (banjo) and Jake Workman (lead guitar).

Ricky has not carried a steel player (nor a drummer) for several years now. You may however hear most of his big '80's hits (Highway 40 Blues,Uncle Pen. etc.) rerarranged for Bluegrass instrumentation. Many were originally Bluegrass tunes anyway.

Bruce Bouton and Terry Crisp played steel for Ricky in the 80s, and I think Tim Sergent played steel for Ricky in the early 90s before Ricky put Kentucky Thunder together. Sometimes when Ricky plays the Opry, and plays "Cryin' My Heart Out Over You", and his songs of the 80s, Tommy White plays steel

I saw Ricky and band at a festival in Bakersfield this last Summer. I was expecting BG, and it was those players, but he had Tommy White on steel. Mostly Country and Ricky telling stories. Tommy used a Mullen and sounded great.

I played for Ricky from January of 94 til June of 97 right after Tim Sergent.

Ricky came down to New Zealand with Kentucky Thunder and he had a young guy playing a clear lacquer Mullen who was very good ... I know cos I opened for them hehe, can't remember the steel players name but it would have been early 90's

I went with Ricky to New Zealand in 94. Unless it was before that, I don't know if Ricky would've been there before I was in the band. If it was me, I would've been playing my teakwood Zum. I also remember we shared the bill with Gray Bartlett and a beautiful gal named Kylie Harris. Tim Sergent was in the band prior to me but I had only seen him play an MCI guitar. I did however see Terry Crisp play a dark green lacquer Mullen guitar back in 91 when he was still with Skaggs at that time. I don't recall Ricky ever saying that he had been to New Zealand before but that doesn't mean he couldn't have and I just don't know anything about it. I do remember how great it was to get to meet Winnie Winston when we played in Wellington. I really enjoyed New Zealand very much. Real beautiful country over there.

I at one time when I was with Skaggs, had a pecan or beechwood mica Mullen that I played for a while. I didn't have it at the time when we're in New Zealand but I did have it when we went to Switzerland back in 96. Other than that, I can't think of who would've had a natural lacquer Mullen and as I said before, I'm not sure if Skaggs had been been to New Zealand prior to when I was with him.

Thank you Tony! I wish there were. I have some VHS recordings. I need to see if I can get those transferred to DVD and try to post some on YouTube sometime. I have recordings of when we did the Opry and some of the shows on TNN when there was still a TNN.
