Honeyfingers plays "Sand", Aluminum Clinesmith

Post by Jonathan Lam »

I am finishing up some recordings I started last year and I did the hawaiian classic, Sand a few nights ago. I am still going to add some things and its unmixed and unmastered, but I think the tone is pretty indicative of why I have not played any other lap steel or even my C6 pedal steels. it has this incredible depth and zing, even though the strings are the same as when I got many months ago. Its really a fantastic instrument. I enjoy playing it every single time i pick it up.

Its just the clinesmith aluminum S8, with the blade style pickup, into a fender style reverb unit, into a vibro champ. I use a sennheiser e609 and into an AEA ribbon pre, and there is no EQ or anything.

Hope you enjoy!

Sounds great Jonny. The bass playing is real nice too.

I look forward to hearing the mastered version.
