I have been a Jay Dee Maness fan for years and have had the pleasure of actually getting to know him over the past few years. This is one of the best and most unique Steel albums ever made and it truly affirms the fact when people say no one plays like Jay Dee. It is an outstanding production by Skip Edwards and friends. I was so honored to be asked to sit in with the "California" band and back up Jay Dee on banjo on the song "Misty" at the Phoenix show. I went to the rehearsal and stayed around to listen to the whole show and let me tell you, the only thing better than the Cd, is watching Jay Dee play it live with this fine group of musicians.

I love this recording! Technique, taste and tone for days. JayDee always plays with such fire and authority. Something I think all new and/or beginner steel players should take note of.

Sure Tommy, I think your comment falls under the heading of the saying I ilke, "play it like you mean it!"

Because of you and JayDee's expertise/experience you can walk the walk and talk the talk about playing with fire and authority, but newer players have to be careful with this lest it turns into a "clamfest."

Back to the woodshed!

This CD, which I now have, is of impeccable taste. I wouldn't have expected anything less of JayDee. Superb!!

This CD has something for everyone and should be in everyones collection. If you don't have it, you're missing out on a quality piece.

Thanks JayDee for your labor of love of the instrument and a superior collection of wonderful tunes!
