Steve, will you be producing these cases? Just wondering. I have a fiber hardshell case for my Emmons that Woody Woodell let me build when I worked for him back in the early 80's. (Hooper Trunk) It has held up better than any other case that I have had. The fiber cases are amazing.

Roy!Long time no see or hear!JT and I have spoken of you many times...we miss you!

My son and I bought the old Hooper Trunk stuff from Danny Bentley...same machines you worked on!My son is making the cases and I'm helping him when I have time...I've been using these cases for 30 years and jumped at the chance to get the stuff...we are having a lot of fun with it.

The first one we sold made it to Australia and back...nothing but glowing reviews so far!We are making steel cases,amp cases,pal-a-seat cases...whatever.

Great to hear from you...I knew you worked there,and so did Gary Cabe,who used to play guitar for Jeanne Pruett...I ate breakfast with Jack Jr.a couple of days ago.

Are these the same as Woody Woodell used to make? They look almost identical.

I have one that'll accommodate a D-10 body and currently I use it for my Zum Encore. I also have one for my Steelers' Choice seat - ideal for going under the bus.

It looks a great product.

Roger,they are the same cases,made on the same machines...we purchased the stuff to make them and we are up and running...thanks for the plug!

The cases we are making are not the ones with wood in them and metal
extrusions...they are the ones made of fiber,lined with foam and fastened with two straps around them....as I said in an earlier post,we just had one make it back from a tour of Australia with the steel guitar and case in great shape...the reason we are not doing the others is:A)The extrusion used is no longer available and B)It kind of defeats the purpose of having a lightweight case...we are mostly making a"split"case with the guitar in one case and the pedal rack and legs in the other...I've been using this arrangement for 10 years and couldn't be happier...I will never carry a whole steel guitar in a single case again.

I first saw one of these cases on Lower Broadway (Carco was using one for his p/p Emmons). Bobbe put me in touch with Woody and I got my cases made up as I said earlier.

The Zum Encore, of course, is an S-10 so there's plenty of spare room in the main case for the legs and pedal-bar. That means I'm currently not using the p/b case but I'm sure I will in the future at some point.

IF I'd have thought it out better I'd have asked for the p/b case to be made an inch or so shorter than the main case - then, when the cases are being stored, one could be put inside the other; but that's a minor point.

If you're going to and from gigs and/or sessions and you're handling your own gear you simply can't do better than these cases! It's a more-than-adequate level of protection, their construction saves space and they're almost feather-light.

Coincidentally, my Encore and my Steelers' Choice seat are currently being Fedexed up to Bismarck, ND for a short tour I'll soon be doing so my Brand-X cases (great name!) are undergoing the ultimate test even as we speak. I could easily take the Zum on the flight with me but I've chosen to keep my beloved Telecaster within easy reach instead. I'm sure we'll all get there in one piece!

Steve, Good luck to you and your son on the case business. JT has told me how much he enjoys working with you in the studio. I worked at Hooper Trunk with Woody and Gary when I was in off the road. We had some great times. Keep up the good work Steve, I enjoy your playing and that great tone! The next time I get to Nashville, I'll swing by and hopefully get to see you!

This is great news Steve! I had a Hooper case that came with a new Franklin I received in 1980 and I thought it was a great case.

I have one that Danny made for Johnny Cox's Encore and though I personally would have configured that particular one a bit differently I do think it is a very good product.

Thanks,fellas!We ain't gonna get rich with this,just trying to keep a good product alive!
We heard that the company was gonna probably end up going out of state if we didn't buy it...we felt like it started here and needs to be here.
I'm still playing and intend on doing so till they quit calling...so far so good.
Mrs.Hinson and Coley are also playing gigs all the time...between the three of us we are all pretty busy!

Roger,concerning the p/b case...I measured Russ Pahl's guitar this morning and the p/b is 1/8th inch longer than the guitar...

I'm sure there's a way to make it shorter but it would involve thinner foam.

Ah, okay. My p/b case has no foam so that's why I assumed it could have been made a little smaller externally.

As I say, no big deal I think I'll get myself another set for my Emmons D-10. I'm not sure I'm keeping the Carter so I'll wait and see regarding that one.

If the p/b case is a good bit longer than the p/b...it could indeed be made shorter.

I've just checked everything.

My LeGrande's pedal-bar is 33.3" (same as the guitar) and the inside dimension of my p/b case is 35". 1" off it's length would do it but I know nothing about the manufacturing process. Would it be a simple matter if I specified that upon ordering?

Ooops - I meant '33.5"'.

Approximately how heavy is a case for an S-12 with a pad and a S-10 without a pad? Does the case have room for the legs or are they carried separately?

Kristen,these cases are really light...I think maybe 7-8 pounds each.
We have been making a lot of"split cases"...a case for the guitar and a smaller case
for the pedal rack and legs...we are making one now large enough to contain the volume pedal(client asked for it)...I've been flying like that for years...guitar in one case and pedal rack,legs,volume pedal,tuner,cords,picks and bar,and two effects pedals for about ten years...I never fly a pac-a-seat,so it helps out to do it that way.
