Jerry was a dear friend for fifty years. He was a great mentor and helped a lot of us struggling to learn pedal steel. He was on the Bakersfield scene early on and worked with many of the musicians in that area. We will miss his friendship and presence in the Michigan music scene. Our prayers and thoughts are with his darling Sal and family

Sure will miss my pal Jerry, family man, super musician, steel and dobro player extraordinare. I remember he and Sal's hospitality, many years ago, took me in, I got a few lessons on the steel guitar he always called a "Gourd". Especially remember his semi-truck horn sounds on C6th, and harmonic techniques. Great stuff. He played a bluegrass breakdown on his dobro for me on his back porch. Remember that one, amazing! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, he just loved the steel guitar! Jerry also served our country in the USAF, during the cold war on KB-29 tankers, converted B-29 bombers, which were flying gas tanks. He was the tail boom operator, refueling jet fighters. He sent me many pics of him from his office in the sky doing this, so we never had to "duck and cover" and could sleep at night, as we had aircraft in the sky 24/7 365. Miss you "Ole Jer" Thank you for your friendship. Mark O
