Earlier today I was Googling around for any tab for lap steel in Neil Young songs, and ran across an old thread from SGF. It didn't have what I was looking for, but I figured I'd ask if anyone here might have any links, etc.
Any steel in Neil's songs was probably the late Ben Keith on a PSG, but I thought something might be possible without pedals, too.
Thanks for any info. |

It's not tab but you can see the guy play the opening lick on a Bakelite Rick on the Harvest Moon video. (0:30) I realize it's just a music video but it looks accurate. Open E?

Great song. My duo partner and I will be playing it tomorrow night. One of about six tunes I'm allowed to pull out the lap steel on. |

Forum member Roy Thomson did a real nice From Hank to Hendrix C6 6 string tab for me and also a tab for Old King that Roy used a wooden bar on. |

Sorry I have no tabs for steel, but this is quite an easy song to play on steel, the tonal range is not large. Key of D and I played this on A6 tuning using finger harmonics some of the time.
One of Neil Young's best..

Hi Kay,
That is beautiful. Is it on any of your CDs?
I would like to get a copy. Is there any chance you will be at the Aloha International Convention in July?

I had forgotten about that vid. Good one.
I'm just starting out, so haven't gotten beyond C6 yet, but would try open E if that's what it is.
Kay, your version is excellent.
Thanks, all. |
