Yes Chris, this doesn't belong here. The outside world is violent enough!

Scuse me, a little slip, like nothing is for sure
except death and Texas.
Charlie, that may be one of the greatest (unintentional) band names I've seen in a long time! :D

Well it really depends which "Expense" you're talking about Chris. The Hobby can have the initial expense of course; like my dirt bike, and I was able to afford it barely as a musician....yay!! But the side expense is what I can't afford. Anyone want to take a guess at how much a hospital stay is for the night?? VerY expensive....!! but when I crashed a little more than 2 months ago.....I spent 5 weeks in the hospital.....ah..ha....so DO THE MATH!!!
I'm screwed for life.....ha.
OUCH ON THE SIDE EFFECTS OF A HOBBY

Yes I'm up and around. It's a very slow heal(I never really put the list of all injuries I took on).
That is a picture of before the accident Chris. I will never ride again. The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI); reminded me that I have a 5 year old daughter and I can't be acting like a 20 year old with NO responsibilities..ha...
This was my list and my doctor I see once a week now for EVER...still sits in front of me and looks at the list and looks up at me and says: "I still can't believe I'm talking to you Ricky"
------------------
Here's the list of injuries other than the TBI; which left me
> unconscienced in and out for days(until all swelling was gone)..and
> the amount of trauma was enough to have no memory of the accident and
> no memory of being in Brackenridge Hospital for 10 days; Awareness and
> cognitive thinking and speaking came after I moved to Central Texas
> Rehabilitation Hospital and I was there for 1 month.
>> broken nose.
>> pulled tendons and ligs on left knee; massive swelling.
>> 5 broken ribs.
>> Collapsed Lung.
>> front and back neck muscles pulled
>> separation between two disc in neck.
>> broken back from bottom of neck down 3 discs of the thoracic. ( No
>> spine
> cord injury at all )

wow...how lucky can an unlucky guy get! glad you survived, but geez.
it kind of makes my last motorcycle decision easier. after 50 years of good luck riding (aside from one early learning incident) i sold my old goldwing the other day. couldn't afford to do the necessary refurb and just felt it was time. after a bsa, a panhead and wings i'm still ok. i never got so high off the ground though, evel!
good thing you get to sit down at the steel.(i hope)
heal up, friend.

Ricky... I’m really happy you’re on the mend... This is what I gave up for wife and kids, bought her brand spankin new... Not the choice everyone would make, but I wasn’t being paid to fly and, OH YEAH, it’s an expensive hobby too... sold her and discovered golf... another expensive hobby, but with all the steel stuff I’ve been acquiring, I’m not doing that much either... Now that I think of it, I’m not getting paid to play steel either... Oh well, chances are I won’t crash it into a tree anyhow... :whoa: :D

Talk about an expensive hobby, Ricky.

Maybe it was for you that Barry suggested Death and Texas for a mew bamd.
G;ad you missed one of them. Playing music is safer.
