I have one of each Tom Quinn. Both are amazing sounding guitars. The shortcoming to each is me. Lastly, "my daddy can beat up your daddy, so there!" _________________ John Brabant

I supported the guy's trade at the beginning of this thread. And the rest is just good-natured tongue in cheek ribbing. And 12 Vettes? Wow, I'm 69 and almost old enough to buy my first one! That makes you -- what? -- 165???
Here's a shot of some guy playing a fingertip that sounds much like a split tail...

Well I'm 66 and I did buy my first Vette when I was maybe 30 ! I didn't wait until 60 ! The others were somewhere in between, just like Steel guitars.
and this > never pass up a good deal on a "good" Vette just like a good Pedal Steel. Quality Vettes sell in the same short time window as a quality Steel guitar... _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

I received my Fingertip this morning. It sounds like a million bucks, plays very smooth and stays in tune nicely! |

Yeah, Yeah, rub it in Jake, make us feel bad... ;- )
Hope you play the snot out of that wonderful old guitar. And -- it's not a "horn." And.. it's not a feminine pronoun either... _________________ I need an Emmons! |

I got to play Jakes fingertip today and that thing has the smoothest silky highs I've ever heard. Guitar is in great shape and has smooth action. I think he has a winner. _________________ Henry Matthews

Yes sir, I believe that I have the ultimate vintage Sho-Bud D-10 Pedal Steel now. Exactly what I wanted!!! Makes me really love trading. When it comes down to it, I traded up to this via the Emmons LGII from a Gibson mandolin that I didn't like... Wound up with it in a trade somehow or another too...??? Hats off to the Forum for hooking folks up with their dream guitars!!! |

Jake,
If you're happy, I'm pickled tink!
BTW: Damir must be pretty happy with the LeGrande II you traded him, judging by the price he's asking. |

$13,000.00 I think??? The $2,850.00 was just a fee for the opportunity to play it for 20 minutes. |

It's funny how these threads ALWAYS end up as Emmons vs. Sho-Bud or Tubes vs. Solid State or blah blah blah...
Who cares what the other guy plays/likes?!?

Billy, out of interest, what was worn out on the Emmons? |
Been wondering since I first read this post what was "worn out" on your fatback, Billy.
Not to contradict, and no offense intended, but last Summer I dropped my two push/pulls off in Crystal, MN for a couple weeks. It was past time for some much-deferred maintenance and knee lever installation, etc. There lives a man who is a retired Emmons dealer, and is highly regarded in a multitude of disciplines, but especially in the field of Emmons push/pulls.
He told me that it is virtually impossible to wear out an Emmons push/pull, and the loosest, most worn instrument he had ever come across (and he's seen a ton of 'em through the years, literally), is a rather special 1968 rosewood 'mica D-10 famously known as "The Blade." |
