my latest Mullen guitar

This is better picture of my Mullen. It is an older model, maybe a prp. I love it and thanks to Tommy Young for his work on the guitar. Tommy owns MAXTONE and he does a wondweful job.

Billy,

That's a real looker! Great color, and I bet it sounds like a million bucks.

Damir thanks for the PRP info. It is a good sounding steel. Best I have ever had, I think

Looks close to the age of mine, s# 2244 same type of tuners, probably 1990 or earlier. Plays great, great tone, quality built steel,

As I understand it, Maxtone is an overall mechanical tuneup by Tommy Young.

Maxtone

Post by Billy Carr »

I've played several guitars TY has done the MaxTone on, before and after. Not sure what's done but there's definitely an enhancement for tone/sustain. I've never taken a guitar apart that has a MaxTone, so I don't actually know what's done. I probably wouldn't know if I did dis-assemble a guitar w/MaxTone added. What I do know is this: Take two guitars that are just alike, side by side, have one w/MaxTone & one w/o. Play each one five minutes. The MaxTone guitar will be on a 1 to 10 scale, 10+ and the other guitar will be hitting about 7 to 8 usually behind the 10+, depending on the player. It's hard to impress me with PSG items, effects and etc. MaxTone is not an effect, it's part of the guitar once the work is done. Real deal guys! Thanks.
