Can a ProfexII be used with one amp?I was told several years ago that its better to use this unit with 2 amps.If it can be used with 1 does anyone have one for sale I would sure like to have one.I do know they aren't made anymore

Unless you're in the studio, stereo is silly (mostly), because the subtle stereo effects get lost in the crowd, and the hippie-trippy stuff doesn't work well live.
So it makes sense to just run one channel.
This is all just my opinion, of course.

I used one Session 500 with my Profex ll by itself when I first got the Profex ll... Won’t say his name, but a guy who played all over from Carnegie to the Grand Ol Opry and points in between suggested adding a Session 400 to the mix, since the Profex ll is a stereo processor and works better that way... I think he was correct, because when I hooked the two together I heard sounds I’d never heard before... I don’t know if it makes a noticable difference to your audience, but if you hear a noticeable “Positive” difference perhaps that translates into better playing because you’re “diggin’” the sound so much.

I think the stereo aspect sound of the PF11 is basically inaudible to an audience, but, you as the steel player will certainly enjoy the sound. I used mine with one amp and don't prefer it. It sounds better with two amps. The overall sound is fuller and more surrounding. Thee are a few channels that flip from one side to the other and with one amp YOU will not hear it. I used mine with a Nash 400 and Nash 1000. I currently play with a Stereo Steel amp and the sound with these combos is phenomenal. Totally full and surrounding. The one amp thing will work, but, not be as good, overall. The very first time, that, I heard the PF11 was with Jeff Newman playing it using two Nash 400's. His sound was astounding, so, I went in that direction for an amp system. It's my go to rig for playing jobs and home playing, plus, the PF11' s are fairly cheap today for an FX unit. There are, I think, 125 pre programmed settings to choose from, also, you can make up your own settings if you want.

Hey Mike, I have a Proflex 11 in great condition. I am going to post it for sale soon. It is in a rack case with a Korg Digital tuner also. James

I started out with a Tubefex and while I was waiting to get it back from getting a battery and rotor knob mod I had to use a Profex. God the Profex sounded awful to me. Didn't even come close to the Tubefex.
