FSOT: Bronson Melody King SOLD

Post by Tony Pulver »

SOLD
Hi, I've got a 1940's-early 1950's Rickenbacher made Bronson Melody King. Nice condition for its age. All electronics work, pickup is strong and sounds great. There is
minor cosmetic wear, and like pretty much all of these it's missing some dot inlays in the fingerboard, but everything remains structurally sound with no cracks, breaks, or repairs. Brown bakelite body with 5 gold cavity covers on top, 1 1/4" horseshoe pickup, 2 brown radio type control knobs on same side, metal swivel cover plate on headstock with large metal badge on front, 23 molded frets outlined in white, 22-1/2" scale length, 3-on-a-plate tuners, with OHSC (purple lining).
$749/shipped to lower 48. Trade interests; electric guitars, fender lap steel, maybe other instruments, go ahead and try me, you never know!
Thanks for looking!

I've been searching this kind of Rickenbacker, but it's a bit far:) Seems similar to model used by Larkin Poe girls. They are touring Europe and will visit Tallinn this month.

Haha, yes; By "shipped", I do mean to the contiguous 48 states. Good luck on your search, my friend!

That is a very cool and unusual guitar you have there! Are you sure about the pickup size? I've never seen a non-string-through-body Ric with the larger pickup.

Good luck on the sale and to the lucky buyer of a great instrument!

Ohmigosh you are totally correct; its a 1 1/4". Don't know how I missed that typo, I knew it was a 1 1/4". Thanks for pointing that out, I'll correct it. Sheesh, so much for proofreading my posts!

(For what it's worth in dating this, the copyright date of the music on the other side is 1948.)

Tony,

I have the amp in the photo, never really knew the vintage until now. I have an aluminum body Bronson like the supros that I play it through.

I' m in Wisconsin and make it to the Twin Cities periodically. That Bakelite should probably find a WI zip code.
