looks like one of the old Supro lap steel pieces to me

it's from a harlin bros. multikord. There is a volume and tone pot along with a dowah button. On mine, there is an impedance matching transformer between the pickup and the electronics.

Jeremy, that might also explain why he measured very low DC resistance on the pickup's coil. That transformer must be an integral part...
