Just the longest of long-shots.....before I start attempting to make a knee-lever assembly to supplement the three pedals on my Maverick fixer-upper. I've posted a thread in the 'Wanted' section, have a look if you think you can help, or maybe know someone who can?
Thanks and Merry Christmas! |

I make knee lever kits for Mavericks now. You can now have 4-5 knees on a Maverick.

There is more than a Knee lever kit needed to raise or lower strings on a maverick. If you lower the #4 E and raise it twice, you have to modify the changer and have access from the end plate to tune the open E tuning.
I consider myself as an expert on the Mavericks. In the past 15 years I have bought and sold at least 50 of them, mabe more. I have added knee levers to several of them.
4 knee lever kits from venders that make them would cost 3 or 4 hundred, and the Maverick might sell for 5 or 6 hundred. I make them myself, not as pretty, but work and a lot cheaper. Here are a few pictures.

Jim, very interesting work. I have a soft spot for Mavericks and am looking forward to having some free time to add knees to mine. When that happens I may be referring back to these pictures for ideas.
I am even considering shortening one of mine and doing a keyless conversion. Its current condition is poor enough to make it a good lab rat for that type of thing.
I put 4 crude homemade KLs on a Mav back around 1975. Three of them actually worked pretty well!
Thanks for posting the photos. |
