ZB Custom Student Value

Post by Jaim Zuber »

All,

I'm looking for a ballpark retail and craigslist value for an old Steel I'm looking to sell. It's been sitting under my pool table since I bought a new Williams years ago. It was a great guitar for me to learn on. I hope someone else can put it to good use.

ZB Custom Student Model S-10. Serial # 0525 (Mid 70's?). Red mica. Looks rough but plays fine.

3+1 Emmons tuning. There are parts for an additional pedal.

It has a George L E-66 pickup and has a nice vintage sound. I purchased this off Ebay & had Bill Rudolph of Williams Guitar Company fix it up for me about 10 years ago.

The case has a faded Gram Parsons and Fallen Angels stencil on it with no verifiable authenticity. Legend has it this was bought in a store in Waycross GA which could be irrelevant or completely fabricated. This guitar was certainly not played by Neil Flanz although he's been kind enough to respond to various owners throughout the years about it.

Thanks for any help.

John, the guitar was built about 1974 but it is not a student model. This is a regular pro S-10 that looks to have been refinished at some point. The student models were covered in a vacuum formed plastic over the wood. Also the students had a solid aluminum frame similar to the old cable Fenders.

My first psg was a student ZB, just like Greg mentioned (plastic shell, Al frame, etc). This could be refurbed into a pretty decent guitar with some/a lotta work. JMO...Stormy ;-)
