Free Website for creating pedal steel guitar tabs
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to announce the release of my website http://www.keentabs.com
It's a free web-based tool to create, edit, share and print guitar tablature. And I made it specifically for pedal steel guitar (standard E9 tuning and C6 non-pedal).
There's a video on the main page that walks you through the features of the website, but tech savvy individuals can probably skip the video and just sign up and start making tabs.
Some of the cool features are:
-store your tabs on "the cloud" for easy access later
-categorize your tabs by tempo, genre, difficulty level
-fine-grained search to find tabs others have created
-easily transpose your tab to any key
-mp3 file upload for your sound clips
-loop the sound clip while you're playing with the song
-keep your tabs private or share with the world
-print the tabs to your printer (or PDF file)
-rating tabs
-user comments
This is the initial release, and it's likely to have an occasional issue or so. I would love to hear your feedback/suggestions. You can reply here or email me at info@keentabs.com
All the tabs on the site are free right now, but we're planning on adding paid content in the future. If you have quality guitar tabs (with audio tracks) that you created and would like to sell on the platform, I would love to hear from you. Email me at info@keentabs.com and we'll let you know as soon as the paid platform is ready.
I hope this proves to be a useful tool for the steel guitar community and hopefully guitar players in general.
Thanks for your time,
-Andy

This is a very cool tool for sharing tab with other players. Brilliant!

I hate the word "awesome", but...
...your efforts and the product are beyond awesome. I play C6 straight steel and your software may actually give me the courage to try pedals.
Amazing work!
Thank you so much for your efforts.

Wow, thanks for the kind words. I hope it's a useful resource. If everyone on the forum shared just 1 steel guitar lick (and audio clip), we'd have a pretty huge pile of content.
Johnny Baldwin - The midi-to-tab conversion tool is a good idea, and I'll look into that. It's currently just me doing the development work, so I will try to focus on the most popular requests.

Greg -Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I can add Universal Setup. I'm not familiar with them so I have to learn which pedal/levers are available for that tuning. I'm also adding open G (dobro) and open E tunings
memphislim - you found a bug, thanks! I'll fix it as soon as I get a chance.
Thanks for the feedback!

I think it only supports non-pedal C6 from his first post.Johnne Lee Ables wrote:...your efforts and the product are beyond awesome. I play C6 straight steel and your software may actually give me the courage to try pedals.

Andy... This is beyond awesome. How about pedal support for C6?
I can't wait to get into this site.
Great job!

Universal Tuning
Would be an excellent tool for players to create their own guitar tunings and pedal setup of individual players. I've been looking for a software that can make it easy to write down the tabs to my own licks so I can share with other steel players. I think you have the right idea and that with the help of others input you will make this program the best tab editing program for Pedal steel guitar
Very well done. Thank you in Advance.

Wonderful
This is the neatest invention since the six pack. It's going to be a valuable tool for everybody. Thanks, Tommy......
b0b: Maybe this should be made a sticky in the Tabliture section.
