Had a wonderful evening at the Bob Hope Theater here in Stockton, Ca.last night! I had seen Vince in this venue a few years ago (Tommy White on steel) and that was great, but last night topped it. Having Vince OPEN the show with an intimate solo acoustic set, right after bagging two of the biggest achievement awards in music was surreal! What an amazing human being he is.
When Paul Franklin and the rest of the 'Jumpers joined him onstage, things went into high gear. Paul was on fire all night, and his playing on "Together Again" was even better than any of the versions I have heard him deliver! His tone, always outstanding, was even more impressive when I checked out his gear after the show; he was playing through a stock-looking Peavey LTD with his Bernado FX pedal. Unbelievable! It's all in the player, guys!

hi gary...cool to hear that paul was playing through a normal workingman's amp. my ltd is still my favorite through years of torture. size, sound and endurance. i've always felt it was more than adequate for my ability.
sounds like a good show...of course.
i've always been a proponent of affordable peavey amps. lots of people seem to think a $4000 amp will help them, but not without the talent to back it up.
and i've always felt vince was an exceptional human. a really honestly nice person. ...not to mention his singing, picking and writing skills mixed with extreme sensitivity. |

Howdy Chris,
I agree on all counts, especially on the subject of Mister Gill. I have had the good fortune to meet and work with a number of talented and famous folks, and Vince tops my my list of people I would like to know personally. Paul is another, for sure!
I have played through a lot of amps along the way, and I still have my trusty NV 400. These days I am really digging my Quilter Steelaire combo. But the bottom line will always be the player, not the gear!

Great show in San Diego last night. Most of the SD steel players were there enjoying Paul ripping It up on both necks. Wow, better then ever. His tone thru that Peavey LTD was superb. Yeah baby !
