Custom PAC a seats - maybe

Any interest in custom PAC a seats?

I always thought, for those of us who like accessories that custom mica or lacquer PAC a seats would be a great product to offer.

With permission from your favorite guitar maker or gear maker we could even add those logos I would think, as well as a variety of colors matching, and feature rich.

If a black mica guitar sounds the best, surely a matching seat would make it much better?

I'm working on a prototype.

In concept, it would be adjustable height, adjustable back rest with lumbar support.

Will also work as well for pianists.

Wondering how many might be interested?

Maybe with a back rest that fits into your "Lumbar" area, for all of the guys that suffer from back/ache. The current back rest seem too far back.

Back in the late 80's/early 90's I was building some seats. I built one with a Rosewood mica covering. It had chromed legs and a folding seat back using boat seat hinges.

I took it to the ISGC in St Louis. Mr Franklin (Franklin Guitars) let me display it at his booth. It sold in about 2 hours to "someone from Nashville" (all I know). Sadly, I don't have a picture of it.

I was reminded, many players who have a back rest only use them during a break or just to stretch and relax a bit. I am sure some people actually play with their back against the back rest. Personally, I never needed the back rest, but always thought if you had one, it should be adjustable enough to bring it forward to support your back while you are "at the guitar".

Obviously, sitting far back on the seat makes it difficult to have leg mobility.

The prototype is in evolution, The lumbar support being fully adjustable to suit the needs of many is a challenge.

There have been numerous PMs and emails with several good ideas and comments.

Could it be electric or automatic, like and automobile seat? I suppose it could but would make it really expensive. However, the lumbar pressure could be easily automated I think.

Keep the wish list coming. I appreciate the inputs.

Steel seats are expensive now, adding too much to a seat could price it out of the range of most.

I don't have a problem with my Steeler's Choice sidekick model with back. I can sit with my back against the seat back but it doesn't restrict movement of my legs. If I were to build seats again, this design would be what I would model mine after.

Bill...I think the adjustable lumbar support should be a must. So many of us older guys..some young ones too have back problems. It inhibits our practice time too. As you know some cars have an adjustable lumbar area that winds out and supports the acheing area, so I'm sure it would be a welcome addition
