I got one of them frozen barz in the mail today not really knowing why I bought the dang thing ...so I fire up the steel rig and give this new bar a slide around the neck a bit ..
And to my disbelief I really heard the difference right away ...so I go back and forth a few times with my other barzzz and said sonofabitch that's a nice freakin bar ...
It's like a silky smooth sound next to my other stainless bars ....just sayin

Don't have to, they were frozen at the factory.

I have two of these bars... I gig with one exactly like yours above, and also have a Hawaiian 8-string model which is also a very nice smaller bar that fits my hand great [Length: 2-7/8" Diameter: 3/4" Weight: 5.2 oz, 148g].

Hmmm... Think I'll order me one of those pedal steel bars.

I've also been looking for a better bar for non-pedal steel.
I can't tell from the pictures available online, but does the Hawaiian bar have an indent for the thumb on the back end for slants?

Rob, I just checked my Hawaiian bar, and it has a significant "Lip" around the outer edge of the base.
There is a little round John Pearse logo that fits inside of that outer lip. I think it is a significant enough lip to make bar slants, but it is not a deeper conical hole like some other Hawaiian bars I have seen.

fwiw, I also use Nickle wound strings pretty much all the time when using this bar.

This thread peaked my curiosity seeing praise from discerning members I respect. I have an older stamped Emmons bar that I've come to really love because it has a noticable density to it I don't find in other bars. I decided to give the cryo bar a spin. Gigged on it last night. I couldn't believe how different it was. It felt slippery! Much easier to play with. I use stainless strings too.

Over all just a Real nice mellow tone. The Emmons bar has an aggressive mid range that I like for sure, but I think I'm sold on these cryo bars. The difference between the bars was significant enough to justify having in my arsenal regardless. Thanks b0b.

I have a Pearse Hawaiian bar. It does have a slight indent on the back end and it works just fine for slants. The Pearce is my go-to bar for lap steel.
