Some decades ago, my young wife and I went to a dinner at a Moose lodge. We felt strangely out-of-place among a sea of people who all appeared to be 65 or older. Now, since I'm well past that 65 mark myself, I feel similarly out-of-place at the local GC.

Of course, the up-side is that I now feel right at home when I go to a Moose, Elks, or American Legion.

Lakeland GC had a NV400 and a Sho-Bud last spring - very good manager even came to the Steel Jam. West Palm Beach -pretty good store too - I did buy a boutique amp that they graciously let me return.

My sob story goes back to the B# Music Store in the Twin Cities area. It burned down several years ago......I've lost track of the year.

Service there was great and their way of doing it, just take 40% off what the tag said and that was the price. I remember paying $525.00 for my Fender Twin Reverb RI.

Sure miss that place.

I don't know. I'm 60 and feel like a youngster a the critter clubs. The one's I play(ed) at are all 70 plus.

GC really doesn't bother me. But then, if I ever have to go into one, I know exactly what I want and can get in and out without anyone "helping" me.

well GC is not a Steel guitar store..there,got that out of the way..

Not all GC's are staff friendly... there..got that out of the way...
Should we expect them to be ? Sure..why not...

I do lots of business with GC's around the nation and locally, I buy most of my USED gear from GC USED off the website..I can honestly say I really have no issues.

In the local stores I do run into some oddballs now and then but pretty much dismiss it. I'm 65 , they are probably 19, what am I wanting from them anyway ? I have a room full of guitars older than most of the staff !

Overall I give them a good rating and I keep my expectations low, especially when actually in the stores.

More often than not it's not the staff that's wanting me to leave the store, it's the noodle-rs who are shredding licks... one of the last times I was in the local store I was leaving and the clerk asked me to take him with me !

Before we get to wrapped up in how awful the staff is think about what they are dealing with on a day to day basis. IT's not a career, it's a job. I've been in sales for 3 or 4 decades, they have been in sales for less than 6 months . Being labeled SALES doesn't make you good at it. My guess is 2 out of 10 people, regardless of what sales business they are in are not good at it and really not happy with it. To me, the biggest issue with retail sales people ( including GC ) is many of them are not really comfortable speaking to strangers... THEY want to be invisible !
