Steelin across the UK and Europe

Post by Aaron Goldstein »

Hello all, just thought I'd mention that I'm touring through the UK and Europe right now for quite a length of time. In the past when I've toured elsewhere in the world it's been nice to catch up with others from this forum and shoot the breeze.

I'm touring with my friend Daniel Romano. You may know his most recent record Come Cry With Me on the New West imprint Normaltown. It's a six-piece country music show; not that new Nashville-style country that you'd hear on the radio, but more of a 70's-style ballad country that also has lately been leaning heavily into country-rock.

We began the tour last night in Dublin and the remaining dates are below. Following this tour I will be taking a much-needed European vacation with my wife before touring back through Europe for another three weeks with another Canadian act, and I will announce those dates when they are public. Cheers all.

Great show in Drammen, Norway! And thanks for letting me borrow your tuning wrench at the sound check for my Pro1.

Here's a song from the show on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeq2l3xEsQE

You're skipping Birmingham, one of the biggest cities in Europe. :(

I can see that you have no room to slip any more in. Looking at your itinerary you hardly have a day free. You're going to be exhausted.

Thanks all for your thoughts. Oliver I really regret that we had to cancel Munster, Dan was ill and couldn't sing. Really hoping to see more of Germany on our next trip. Frode, you're most welcome and thanks for the video. Alan, I too was disappointed to miss Birmingham and also Manchester. These things are beyond my control, there are managers and agents who deal with bookings and I can only hope we'll get there next time. Greg, we're in a unique situation - Dan doesn't fly because of anxiety. He took a freighter ship to Europe while the rest of us flew. Australia will prove difficult but we are indeed trying to make it happen sometime on the next record cycle in conjunction with a trip to Japan. Sit tight and I hope we can make it there sooner rather than later.

I suppose I can now mention that my second tour is with the fine Canadian group Elliott Brood, and the dates can be found here: http://www.elliottbrood.ca/News.shtml

Aw man, sorry I missed you in Cardiff in August. I'm really enjoying your playing on Daniel's album.

Coincidentally I played steel in a band called Blind River Scare opening for Elliot Brood in Cardiff back in February 2013.

What a great show here yesterday! Chances are rare to hear that kind of band in conjunction with a great steel-player here in Vienna!
Cheers!
