Old news for you lucky Texans that live in that area, but I was in the Dallas area this weekend for a wedding reception which was held in Wylie, Texas. During a break from the reception, I wandered down the block about 4 doors and there was the Saturday night Wylie Opry going on ! I looked at the flyer in the window and saw that Earl Briggs was on steel and that they had cds for sale in the lobby so I went in and picked up a copy of his CD. I have seen Earl play over the years at the TSGA annual convention in Dallas and always loved his style...I highly recommend picking up his cd if you dont have it...Steel Guitar Favorites, and it is well named ! His playing is just super and the style I love to hear on tunes like Crazy Arms, Truck Driving Man, Silver Wings, Deep Water, etc. I regretted that I couldnt attend the opry as I had an obligation to get back to the special wedding reception but sure was glad I took the break and found the Opry...I will be back another weekend for sure ! I always say us Okies are just Texas-wanna-bes ! Smile
