I went to the Opry last night, Tommy was on vacation so Pat Severs played and did a great job.. He was the only steel player.. Things sure have changed since I was here in the 80s. In those days there would be 5 or 6 steels lined up and almost every artist had their own steel player... Last night 3 of the artist didn't even use Pat.. The house was full and the crowd really had a fun so I guess it's just a different time... Couldn't help but miss seeing Weldon up there....

Pat also worked with Narvel Felts, Eddie Rabbitt, then Pirates of The Mississippi. He played a JCH in the videos of the Pirates' cover of Hank Williams' "Honky Tonk Blues" and "Rollin' Home, then he played an Emmons in the "Fightin' For You" video, then a Mullen in the "Dream You" video, which I believe was the last video he appeared in with the Pirates of The Mississippi. Pat told me that when the Pirates recorded "Fightin' For You", the steel used in the studio was a Sho-Bud. Pat played steel on the TV show Nashville Star-he played a GFI on that show, then played a ShowPro with Bill Anderson, and now he plays a Mullen with Bill. Pat is another South Carolina steel player like me
