ZUM ENCORE thanks DOUG

Post by James Taylor »

Ken,You are so kind but everyone in this wonderful form is .Thank goodness for people like yourself that are so helpful .I could fill pages of kind people from the USA to UK and I can't forget Malcolm from Scotland. He is always on hand like yourself. Then of course B0B who set everything going. I would have been in a " QUANDRUM " --mess if this FORUM was not in place. Again, all you fine people who guided me towards this HEAVENLY instrument and its magic sounds. I wish I had been taught this in the 50's or 60's. I can't forget Doug for crafting such a nice steel guitar.I do know there are quite a lot of good lightweight steels out there, but this Encore was in my estimation, after gathering all the evidence in print and from you all that contibuted to my request for advice, the best choice for ME.EVERY BEST WISH AND THANKS AGAIN KEN.JAMES TAYLOR :) :) :)

What sort of a cover do all of you use for your Encore (with the detachable pad)? I see that D2F makes one (D2F-ZOS10) for the StageOne, and a different one (D2F-ZES10) for the Encore, but I can't tell whether either of those fits with the pad attached.

I just got one last week for my Encore. They're both the same cover as the Stage One and Encore are the same size. They are a tight fit so neither will work with the pad attached.

Thanks, Stephen. Does anybody know where you can get a cover that fits the Encore with the pad attached? Wider than an S-10, but narrower than an SD-10 - kind of an S-10 + 1/2.

David... Your best bet is to just contact D2F with the measurements of your steel with the pad attached. If they don't have one in stock that fits they will make you one.

Encore

Just wondering about the stock humbucker. Does anyone know if it is made by George L, or how it compares to a GL 10-1 or E-66? Thanks, George

I have had my Zum Encore exactly five months now and I am still in love with it.It stays in tune and sounds great. It still has the original strings and I am contemplating putting on a set of Cryogenic Live Steel strings which should make it sound even better. I also like the Humbucker pickup.

I took my Encore out to a jam session "welcome home" party today and I have to agree with Lyle, I love mine as much as I did when I first took it out of the case. The Encore is a great horn!

Well, I've had my one now for one year and it still rings as true today as it did then . I can say little more than all the positive remarks that have already been said ; I still LOVE IT and it has done my aching heart much good! Remember, B0B on this Forum is also a great guy too. Guitar is finished

Post by Brady Redwine »

Doug said my guitar is finished - Encore, smokey blue, 5x4 with a Franklin pedal.

Been waiting on this since this past December. Well worth the wait I hope.

Here's one thing worth noting, as was pointed out to me today.
Many new guitars of a year or so, especially economy models, show up on the guitars for sale listings.
I don't think I've seen an Encore.
Doug must be doing SOMETHING right.
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

Encore

LANE, I think so too. It :looks good ; feels good ; sounds good; stays in tune very well; is simple to adjust if it does go off and is really light weight. I do not think anyone could find a fault with it. I still love my lovely pedal steel. GOOD OLD ENCORE and DOUG also. I'll bet he is one the busiest Steel guitar builders. JAMES TAYLOR :) :) :)

My new Encore

Post by Tommy Boswell »

Got mine! And what a fine guitar it is! Doug builds a great pedal steel. I knew from day one it would fast become my main ax. And Doug is a pleasure to work with, it was definitely worth the wait.

The two-tone turned out nice. Doug sent me a picture of a Stage One built that way, and I liked what I saw.

Yes indeed Tommy, this is a very beautiful steel and I am sure you will get much enjoyment as all of us have who have invested in it. It has quality too as well as appearance . Every best wish and success for the future. JAMES TAYLOR SCOTLAND
