Lap Steel teacher in D.C., Baltimore, Winchester area?

Post by Bill Sinclair »

I'm a saxophone & harmonica player in Hagerstown, MD that has become completely smitten by my recently acquired (2 months)Supro Airline. The jump blues/swing/rockabilly band that I play with has at times had a steel player, both console and pedal. We're currently playing as a four piece but I missed that sound so I thought I'd try to work up 6-12 songs of our repertoire on a lap steel. Easy-Peesy, right? Well, not so much, but there's no turning back now. Know anybody that's within about an hour of my location that could provide a few lessons before my all bad playing habits become ingrained?

You couldn't do better than Doug Beaumier in North Hampton, MD.

Sorry about that Doug. Guess I can't charge you for the publicity! Sometimes my fingers type faster than my brain functions.

Perfect! Sure looking forward to meeting you (and picking up a set of those legendary magnets for my Supro). I'll make a more detailed response to your PM later today.

Thanks guys.

Had my first lesson from Rick on Sunday and we worked long and hard on undoing some of the bad habits I've acquired over the past 3 months. :\ He was very generous with his time and a lot of fun to hang out with. Plus I got a museum tour and a new set of magnets to beef up my old Supro. I've got a lot to keep me busy till the next time! Thanks Rick!
