I'm taking an old Supro on a plane next week. I don't have a case for it and wanted to order a padded gig bag (nothing expensive) because I need something light and relatively easy to carry.

Will a Supro 32" long fit inside an electric guitar gig bag? Or is there a case for lap steels sold somewhere?

Thanks!

Try a gig bag for the Baby Taylor. I think Mark Van Allen sells them here. If I have the wrong member, someone will correct me, I'm sure

I have one of these, works great. Don't let the baggage handlers get it, though.

Yes indeed, Rick and Kristine, I have gig bags in stock, and they're as nice as I've been able to find. Would be a near -perfect fit for a 32" Supro. http://www.markvanallen.com/store_accessories.html

About a week or so ago, I purchased this Gretsch-branded gig bag

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Gretsch-Padded-Synchromatic-Guitar-Gig-Bag-for-Mini-Diddley-099-6427-000-/331177705776?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item4d1bbac130

for my Gibson Century 6, which is also 32-inches long. I just checked to be sure, but it also fits my 1950 Supro Supreme quite nicely.

Can't beat it for only thirty bucks shipped to your door. The gig bag should be allowable as a carry-on; it should fit quite nicely in the overhead bin of most any modern commercial jet.

I like these Martin Backpacker gig bags $22.50
36" X 10" with a pocket big enough for a volume pedal.

A baritone uke bag might work, but that backpacker bag for 22.50 looks very nice.

One thing that I did, that I'm kinda proud of, is I bought a regular 3/4 size acoustic guitar gigbag and then I made an inner "lap steel cozy" for it to hold my steel in place and give it further protection.

The cozy's made out of a foam sleeping pad that I cut and then duct taped together. Then, once the shape was right, I "upholstered" it using an old sheet and more duct tape. Whole job took a few hours and used no real skill.

I now have a pretty heavy duty custom case and it cost me less than $50.

Gun case bags are easily found, even local to where you live.
