Hey Friends,

Don't miss this one. I play quite a few steel guitar shows every year and this is truly one of my favorites. Joe always has every detail worked out and everything runs smooth as can be. I've been honored to be part of the staff band for several years now,and as soon as each year's show is over, I start looking forward to the next year. Make plans now to be in Opp, Alabama the first weekend of May this year and just go ahead and put it down for next year too.

See ya there,
Jim

Hey Joe,

Bus will be pulling out of Nashville around midnight Thur. We want to make sure to get there in plenty of time to set up,check in,and most important, eliminate any possibility of missing the catfish at David's.

Folks, if you don't have anything special planned for the first weekend in May, come join us for a fun day. If you do have something planned, cancel it and join us anyway.

See ya there,
Jim

Joe, looks like your show is really getting full.
(Try to keep Lynn out of trouble while he's there.)

Wish I could be there to enjoy the music and visiting.
Look forward to seeing you in St. Louis.

Now if I could get Jim Hartley to swing south on the bus and pick me up, that would great.

I Worked on a lot of shows with Lew Childre in the 40s and 50s.He was a creat showman. What a dancer He had more moves than a hoochy coochy dancer. He could sing ala bama bound better than anyone, He was good friend and I am proud to be a part of this show in his memory Billy Robinson

MORE GOOD NEWS !!! Long time friend Brian Sterling, from the Mel Tillis show will be be joining us this year in the staff band. Brian has been a "Statesider" for 30 plus years and has been the staff player for the great Branson steel show several years. I swear, this show just keeps getting better and better folks, don't miss it.

And Billy, don't worry, I'll have my brushes with me.

See ya there,
Jim

One of my favorite steel shows

Post by John LeMaster »

I have been to The Lew Childre Memorial Show at Opp for the past three years. Opp might be a little "off the beaten path", but it is well worth the trip. Joe Moulton puts together a terrific show. BTW, Lynn Owsley was at the Jacksonville anniversary show a couple of weeks ago, and the audience was thoroughly entertained. This year, a total of THREE hall of fame players (Joe Wright, Billy Robinson and Lynn) plus the legendary Stonewall Jackson are on the Opp show!

The venue is a beautiful (and well-air conditioned!) auditorium - and I expect it will be full to capacity for this great show. I regret that I will not be able to be there this year, as not only is the music super, but it is always a pleasure to see old friends again and meet new ones. Have a great show, y'all! :D :D

Hate you're not going to be there John, I was looking forward to seeing and hearing you. This really is one of the great shows, and you have been a big part of it's success. Hopefully, next year. Take care.

You can be sure that I would definitely be in Opp this weekend if we didn't have the gig!

Have a GREAT show (and I know you will)!

Hey there Joe! Yes sir, we are heading for Opp, Alabama early in the morning-- just remembering the great time we had last year is really playing on my mind. You and all the other folks at Opp sure make everyone feel so welcome and we are so looking forward to getting to be with our old friends and making new ones. You have some of my very favorite pickers coming and can hardly wait to hear them, looks like you are trying to out do what you did last year!! See you tomorrow--

Hey Joe,

I tried to post something this morning, but lost internet connection. I just wanted to extend a huge THANKS to you, the sponsors and volunteers for all the hard work and for making this show such a success and so much fun. As I said before, it just gets better and better each year. Friends, pencil in the first Saturday of May for next year, you don't want to miss it.

See ya then,
