Emmons Friday Performance 1997 ISGC

Post by Bill Ferguson »

I kept digging until I found this performance which was right after the rehearsal.

It is neat to see that our hero's are human and do make mistakes (just not many)and laugh it off.

For some reason, Buddy was very nervous at this show. Actually most steelers are VERY nervous at any steel guitar show.

I would sure appreciate your leaving a comment here AND ON YOUTUBE.

Enjoy,
Bill Ferguson

Can't wait to see this one! Thanks, Bill!

I think the reason for his nervousness may be found at 13:38 on the video! Still he plays incredibly well. Not unprecedented. Another heavy hitter, Mickey Mantle, did his best work in the same shape.

Bill - thank you so much for giving us a chance to hear this.

With the steel right forward and centre in the mix it sounds even more remarkable to me just how positive and assured is his playing. I know he'd consider that he was making a mess of some of it but that just highlights the difference between Buddy Emmons and everyone else.

For the umpteenth time I'm in awe of this man's ability.
