What's a "custom built X-bar"?? Not familiar with that term.

Per seller, the custom X-Bar is a custom LKV that is long enough that you can reach it on either side of LKR.
A classic Newman thing.
He liked a very long LKV for ease of engaging it from either E9 or B6 pedals.

Me and Shannon found that thing on CL about four day's ago and let Lynn Stafford know about it...if I just had a spare $3200 I'd be dragging that thing home Myself...and I don't even play U12

I went to a Jeff Newman week long seminar in July '82 (I was there the same week as Paddy), and ordered an Emmons Push-Pull S12U 7x4 the week after (7x4 was the setup Jeff recommended at the time, no LKR to block ability to reach B6 pedals).
I basically have it's twin (It has 7x5 now).
I would like to get a LKV like on Jeff's. Maybe a Lynn Stafford mod someday.
Maybe I'll bring it to the next Jam to show.

Hey Pete I must drag out the class photo and see if we can identify everyone that was there - I remember you, Henning Koch from Denmark and Mike Daily (George Strait) but the rest of them I have forgotten, there was also a guy from Canada too.

That's an awesome looking guitar. If I hadn't recently bought an ST-12 from Lynn I'd be all over this myself. Anyone have an idea what this guitar would weigh (a universal push pull in a single neck body?)

For some weird reason I have never been very comfortable with single body guitars, even though I am not a very big person! Something about the knee and foot positioning. But the weight, ack! So much weight!

I was a teenager.
I graduated High School in '81, but had started playing Steel during the summer between 10/11th grade, a Sho-Bud S10 Pro1 with 3x1.
I started playing in bars, underage, in a working band 4-5 nights a week, 5-sets a night, around Cody Wyoming starting Sept 81, and went to Jeff's in July '82.
I just turned 50 and still have that Emmons. The ShoBud is now an S10U 7x5.

Lana, Although I can't image it is more than a coupla pounds lighter than a similarly loaded SD12U, my S12U has a nice center of gravity when you have the rear apron against your waist or hip/leg, and your hands on the endplates or the front/rear aprons.
Standing in front of the steel, I grab the rear-right and front-left legs just below the body when I flip it upside down. It is easy to lift and rotate in/out of the case, and move around in general.

When I bought my Emmons S12U 7x4 is was $1895.
Seeing what the Barbara Mandrell guitar recently sold for, I guess this guitar is priced about right.
