Video Demo of New Quilter "SteelAire" amp
I have been beta-testing this new amp for pedal steel for some time now. Here is a video of some of it's great features for the pedal steel guitar player.

Thanks Albert. I enjoyed the video.
Here is a companion video from Pat Quilter, don't know if this has been posted yet on the Forum.

I have been paying attention to Mr. Quilter's designs over the past couple of years and he really seems to be on to something good with his amps.
I might have missed it because I'm just about out the door here I had to skip around a bit: Albert, did you mention a ballpark price?
I think we all like the part about the amp weighing around 30 pounds.

Good demo, Albert. You explained the use of the amp well. Folks, I have played a lot of gigs with Albert since he has been beta testing this amp and it is just as he says. This amp has great tone and cuts through the mix well. A lot of these concerts were outside and amp performed very well. With the LoZ out, it is no problem going to the board. The light weight is an extreme plus for us old guys. Course Albert's not old, but I am an if I was in the market for a new amp this would be the one.

I compared that price with my current lightweight rig, which is a GK MB200 into a cab with a 15" neo speaker, plus I have to add in the cost of pedals to give me reverb, delay and other effects. I think the difference ends up being about $300 or so. That's worth it to get a US made amp from Quilter.
To write with a broken pencil is pointless.

Quilter Steel amp
I too also like the Quilter Steelaire amp.But it is alot of money for average players.Only pro players can purchase them, but then again they are given them to promote them.Be nice if they would consider us average players. But still a great amp.

Are you guys serious ?
I can't believe some folks will pay anywhere from 1-5 grand for a guitar and gripe about the $1300 price of a full power, boutique ,lightweight amp ! The guy sure ain't getting rich on steel guitar amps. He is obviously building these for the love of the instrument. Keep in mind that Peavey has abandoned this segment of the market and have not offered a full powered steel amp in YEARS.....not to mention this amp is LIGHTER than the grossly underpowered NV112. You need two of those to be heard on a bandstand with vocal PA ONLY(ran into that quite a bit).Price of two NV 112 is over a grand. If I were gigging a lot I might consider one....heck I might consider one anyway !

Quilter Amp
Dustin,Sorry I didn't mean to sound like a gripe.I too may sell mt Session 400 and get one myself.I was concern about our fellow players who are on a fixed income and not able get an amp that is light weight and have full power for steel. You are right Peavey hasn't come out with anything new for steels in awhile.
As for steels your also right on the cost of them.I have 3 and I got them before I got remarried, and got things I want for my steels.I hope these will be out soon like try try one myself.Larry

Larry,
Sorry I came off like a grouch. I aint rich myself, and I HATE to spend money. It's hard for me to justify such a purchase to myself (and to my wife) when I don't play gigs anymore. It is a great sounding amp from the clips. I am excited that someone had the follow through to put that lightweight technology to use for a niche market like the PSG market. I am bitter at Hartley for failing to provide a new lightweight power house amp, but,I digress....I don't know what he's up against in the business world. The Quilter amp DOES sound good though and I thought the features were worth the money they charge. Plus it's built in the USA, which for me,means keeping Americans off of the welfare line. I better stop typing before I drift into forbidden territory. Sorry if I offended anyone who is a fobro from outside of the USA.

On a related subject, just got a Quilter Aviator Open Twelve for six string. Sounds killer, weighs 34 lbs, two channel 100W each, great reverb. Never thought I'd give up vintage tube amps in favor of solid state but this amp made me a believer. Pat Quilter, who started QSC amps, has been building and designing amps for fifty years and the customer support is second to none.

The sound on the video is over modulated due, unfortunately,to a consumer grade, non pro video rig or smart phone. It's not the amp. Pat's voice is even over modulated in places. He should hire a professional two person crew to do these impromptu videos. The product is worth the extra expense.
I might add, if you shop around, dealers are offering discounts on Quilter amps.

Just got a Sho-Bud D10. Although I'm not ready to gig on PSG I've been putting some thought into amps. I have a Bandit 65 and a JC-120 head and either is fine in the learning stages and probably fine for gigs too. I like the idea of the Steelaire though especially after hearing/seeing a demo of a guy playing a Telecaster through it from a previous NAMM show. Looks like the Steelaire might make a really nice dual duty amp and although Steel is new to me I've been a gigging six stringer for a long time now.
Anyhow I'm in no mad rush to spend money on a new amp but I thought I'd email Quilter to ask about a release date for the Steelaire. I used their general customer support email address and to my surprise Patrick Quilter answered my email. He said that they are working on meeting regulatory standards and that they are very close. Per Patrick's email the target date for the Steelaire release is the end of February.
Just thought I'd share.

Just to underscore what great customer service Quilter has, I thought I had a problem with my Quilter Aviator and Chris Parks, CEO sent a replacement the next day, free of charge. Turns out there was no problem. This company stands by their product and you would be hard pressed to find better people.
