Instructors in Chicago
Do any of you know of any good Pedal Steel Teachers in Chicago?
I live right in the city about a mile from Wrigley field.
The catch is I don't have a car, so I need someone in the city that either has a pedal steel for students or can come to my place. I can't feasibly lug my 70 pound Sho-Bud LDG all over town on the train and buses.
Any ideas?

A friend of mine lives in Chicago not that far from downtown, I believe near Irving Park. His name is Brian Wilkie and he is a great overall musician. He plays guitar and steel ( an early 80's push pull Emmons ). He isn't that much into computers, so I will ask him if he is interested in giving lessons and get back to you.

While I don't know Brian W personally-I know that he seems to have become one of the main players in the area since he came up to Chicago-I am not sure if Chicago's longtime players Tommy Furlong or Paul Carastia are teaching any these days-also I know a few other locals who have been taking lessons from Ken Champion-He is in Cary,IL.

Hey Brian, I thought that was you. You know he'd probably be a lot better off learning from someone of the likes of Brian or Ken. I'm still struggling with the Winnie Winston book. That Nashville to Bakersfield piece is a bear. Stop by the stor if your in the neighborhood.
