Kay, I always love to hear your recordings, and this one is especially nice. Besides the fine musicianship, there is always a contagious love for the sounds of the instruments.

I really enjoyed this recording, Kay. Very cinematic. I recently re-watched Lawrence of Arabia and I can imagine the camels coming over the horizon to your cut.

That was very cool. Cinematic as Andy said. Reminded me of a Ennio Morcone film score.

The lead I instrument is electric guitar, correct?

I get the impression I've heard the lead guitar theme somewhere else, but I cannot remember where. :\

Gentlemen,

Many thanks for the appreciation, much treasured.

The copyright on this tune belongs to my good friend and mentor Chick Holland who lives in a lovely part of North Devon in the UK. I overdubbed steel on this mix in which he plays the lead (on a Stratocaster). He had asked me to overdub the "ooijie oojou" (my own terminology and invention). He is a stickler for perfection. I have overdubbed steel on some of his other recordings and he once had me do 87 takes before he was satisfied!

Yes, Arabian Sunset was featured on my CD "Shadows on Steel" issued 2011, on track 7. Track 2 was also a Chick Holland original, titled " Windsong of Tahiti", which featured the lovely voice of Rachel Dickson (that was the recording with the 87 takes).

Beautiful as usual. It shows that steel guitars can be a part of any kind of music.

I recorded a piece a couple of weeks ago called MAQAM BAYATI which is the name of an Arabic scale. I am playing on my Dobro, to hear it click on my website link below and go to the SONGS page.
