Tom, that box is sweet. Especially when mixed with my Zack Wylde chorus, and MXR EVH phasor. And I could find new sweet spots all over the adjustment ranges. Just awesome. I played it at church and it was not intrusive when turned on. It did turn some heads though.

For you guys that also play harp, I played my green bullet mike through the resonator and found some interesting vibes through a small amp. This unit is a Swiss Army knife of a pedal.

In my experience the matchbros sounded pretty good, although different in their different versions. The Resonator box is much more adjustable for tone and timbre, and covers a much wider range of usefulness. Works great with the lower range on my U12!

The reviews sound pretty good so far. Has anybody compared it to the use of the 12 band equalizer with the so-called "football" settings? If so what's your takeaway?

I know Tom puts out good stuff and I really like to see him come out with innovations like this one. I'm probably already sold but I'd like to hear more.

I got mine yesterday and I've not had a lot of time with it yet but, what I've heard so far is good. I like it better plugged into my amps fx loop return so the pedal has no other eq. Still haven't tried it with my pod xt . I'm wanting the pedabro tone for recording.

Nate: I have had 2 regular guitarists inform me that they bought my Resonator pedal simply because they were tired of having to pack along their resonator guitar to gigs, plus all their other gear. That worked for them, but they also added that if they played their true resonator guitars through my Resonator pedal, the quality of their sound created an even more authentic resonator sound. I didn't anticipate this result when I was developing the unit. I didn't ask the two fellows if they then went back to packing both instruments to gigs!

As most everyone knows, I encourage my customers to try out anything I sell. If any product I sell doesn't deliver what they were hoping for, all they need do is return it and I'll refund their money. Therefore, I encourage you to get one of my pedals and try it out. I'll live with whatever you report back here on the Forum. ...Tom

Tom, I bet you can live with this assessment, from a disciple of Mike Auldridge on both Dobro and steel. I bought mine early this year, and tried it out BRIEFLY at home before taking it to a jam session the other week. I haven't had a lot of time messing with it (A recent bicep tear has me reluctant to set up my steel for the next several weeks), but here's my impressions after just a bit of fiddling with it.
This is a great bit of kit!
Does it make my Zum sound like either Mike's 36 Regal or a MAS Beard? NO. At least not yet.
It does, however, sound closer to those two axes than the Dobro sounds popular in Nashville in the 70s. It sounds MUCH more pleasing than the execrable tone on either Glen Campbell's "Sunflower" or Jeannie C. Riley's "Harper Valley PTA (I know some people actually LIKE that tone. Some people prefer Mrs. Paul's to an actual seafood restaurant. Urgh). I fully suspect that a few hours tweaking would get my Zum or Bud sounding at least as good as a pickup on a quality reso. It'd probably require adjustments both to the knobs and my playing, and possibly a softer bar to emulate the faster decay.
I'm pleased with this box. My wife, who has good ears and can discuss the elements of good (and bad) tone and style said the same thing. It doesn't sound as good as a quality reso with a quality mic on it, but it sounds better than a good reso with a decent pickup.
