New Telonics NEO 8 ohm, 12 Inch Speaker Released

Post by Dave Beaty »

Please refer to the appropriate "For Sale" category for further information at the following URL:

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopi ... 14#2145214

It is designed as a modern replacement for the great classic JBL K120-8 speaker and will now be used in all Telonics products which require 12 inch drivers.
In broad terms, it handles twice the power while weighing only half as much and produces “that” great sound.

While it does the same great job in steel guitar applications, the TSNEO 12-8 is specifically designed to replace the heavy JBL’s.

OUR THANKS to the many Steel Guitar Forum members for their encouragement in providing this speaker/driver.

Hi

Post by David Hartley »

That looks like a winning speaker again by Telonics.

Hope you're OK Dave B..

I wished these light speakers were available years ago then I wouldn't have the back aches I have at the moment.

Dave
The speaker looks very well put together. Can I ask you a technical question about the efficiency of your speaker? As well as being a great sounding speaker, the K120 was amazingly efficient in maximising the output from an amp.

The K120's sensitivity was rated at 101db @ 1 metre with 1 watt input. How does your speaker stand up to the JBL in terms of efficiency?

Thank you.

I got one of these speakers and put it in my Headstrong "Deluxe" (basically a 22 watt Princeton)

Sounds spectacular!

I know that supposedly they are a bit broken in from the factory but this one was a bit "nasally" and strange on the low end when I first put it in..... the highs were amazing right off the bat but the low mids and lows were a bit weird...

But I played it for a very short amount of time and the whole thing opened up... after maybe only about 2 hours of playing... now it is sounding wonderful!

I have a 15" Telonics in my other amp as well and I really think these are great speakers.

Telonics In A NV400

Post by Chuck Blake »

Has anyone swapped the BW speaker in a NV400 with a Telonics?

If so can you post your results either via PM, Email or here on the forum.

I toying between the Telonics and another brand of light weight speaker to reduce the weight in my 400.

Thanks

PV do a Neo magnet as a direct replacement for the B/W magnet. They can be swapped out in about 10 minutes.

NV-400 with 12

Post by Larry Moore »

I built a cab. for the NV-400 and put the Eminence 12" Delta lite speaker.
Amp Cab top , bottom & speaker board made from Cab. grade 1/2 plywood.
Sides are 3/16 plywood.
Amp now weighs 35 lbs. :)
note new name: NASHVILLE-400-112

Dave most of the PEAVEY Steel amps are rated at 4ohms. How does the 8ohm speaker compensate for the 4ohm rated amp heads???
