If you do not have it yet, Christmas is just around the corner, do your wife a favor and get it, she will love it. Then ask to borrow it, take it to your music room, play the crap out of it, tell her you broke it or lost it. If she has you buy another, everyone wins.
This year we have seen the Bakersfield and Emmons projects and Mike Johnsons second project, all great, but we need more chatter here for Gary's, it is a winner for sure.

I'm really enjoying my copy but I do wish he'd included more information on the personnel involved in the project.
'The Lighthouse Tale' remains a favourite but his 'Shenandoah' runs it a close second. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

I got inspired by what I thought were some of his changes so I changed both of my PP's to lower 9 and 10 on pedal C. Put the 4th string whole tone change on a knee. Works pretty well and sounds great. I do not raise 10, but I am slowly getting use to it.
I loved the lick on Shenandoah right at the start where he plays 6 and 9 together and then releases 9 to get a sus chord. Oh and the fun just never stops coming.

Larry I agree with you. A lot more talk about Gary would be just great! To me, Gary is the new big name in steel to be reckoned with. He is the one taking over for the big names that have retired. I loved his playing from the first time I saw and heard his video Lighthouse Tales. Not only is Gary a great player and interpreter of music but, as he has proven to me, a very personable and humble human being. Connie Smith is one lucky lady to have Gary in her band. _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Gary Carter is a Fabulous Player!
His rendition of Shenandoah on the Buddy Emmons Tribute CD is unbelievable great.
Such taste, feel and soul seldom heard. He sounds like no one but Gary Carter.
Gary is truly a βone of a kind player.β His style is all his own.
I very much enjoy listening to Gary when he is on the Marty Stuart Show however,,,,, what he plays on this program only requires about 2% of his ability.
This boy is the entire package! He is not just a one bag player.
From Bluegrass to Classical,,,,he's gotcha covered.
Gary is also one of the finest human beings I have ever known.

Seems like all truly great players start out at a very young age. When I saw "The Carter Kids in 1968, Gary had already been playing for several years and even at age fourteen he could easily keep up with the "A" team in Nashville.
As Mr. Hudson accurately pointed out, Gary is a fabulous player. . . and then some!!! Great stocking stuffer, no question.
Sincerely,

Fellow SGF Members whom have an admiration for Gary Carter as one of the best steelers in the business. Not only is he a fine musician but a great guy. When I lived in N.Y. State, Gary was one of the first steel guitar players here on The SGF; to send me a msg. Seems like a fine individual to me.
Bent, where can I buy one of his albums ? _________________ 2007 Zum S-10; 1967 Sho-Bud [ D-10 ]; 85 S-10 Sierra; 1953 Multi-Kord [ 6 String- 4 pedals ] A Sho-Bro six String Resonator Guitar; Nashville 112 Amp; hilton Vol. Pedal |
