If it's really a 1959 Gibson ES-345, why does it not have a dot neck?

It's a 345 not a 335. 335s have the dots and 345s have the split inlays

Needs a FLOYD??!

Post by Bill Howard »

Yeah this beautiful untouched Gibson needs to be molested with a Floyd Tremelo system, then right after it would LOSE about half or more of it's value.
Sorry to see once nice guitars hacked up and Junk put on them by Morons makes me see REDDDDDDDDD.

If you want to hack up something do on something like an ibanez 295.00 one... paint it, decals, Floyd Rose
Put 6 pick ups on it WHO CARES/// do it all leave da gibson alone!! This is Beautiful and I'm a Fender player

One day I hope that I'll once again own a Gibson from what I condider their 'golden era' (having foolishly sold my '58 Super 400!!!) This is not my ideal (I'd really like another arch-top - L-5 or Super 400) but I've lost count of the times I've re-opened this thread just to gaze at the pictures.

I love the model (I always liked the 345s and 355s more than the 335), the colour and the case and I also think it's fairly-priced. It's just a little beyond my means. Clearly an L-5 would be even further beyond my means and a Super 400 from '58 to '62 beyond the Dreams of Avarice!

I repeat - this is a beautiful example.

Needs a Floyd ??

Post by Matt Dougan »

Well, I actually laughed at the "needs a floyd" comment. Uhhh he WAS joking, wasn't he?

That is one of the nicest ES345's I've seen. Eye candy galore. So many guitars, so little cash ....

Matt i really don't think that was a joke no doubt he is young and youngsters are not known for thinking down the line(used to be one myself:). Like many others I foolishly got rid of my vintage single pick up ES 175(1951) with a single P-90 and a factory bigsby. I do have a cpl album cuts with it on there.. But in response to my post I have seen several strats torn up with mo mo's putting bigger pick ups decals and other moronic mod's. I would almost hock the house for this baby....."Honey we could sleep in the case"... (typical musician response).

I have a Gibson ES345s guitar. Mine has a Bigsby. At that time the Bigsby was a dealer option. I bought it in 1962. Your guitar is cleaner than mine and the case is a lot better than mine. Good luck in your sell.

Thanks for the kind words, it has been placed ON HOLD presently from a very good longtime client and sadly enough it will soon be leaving my stable...On a good note I have scored several other 50 era Gibson guitars, most are Les Paul Juniors and a TV Special along with several others enroute( 59 DC Junior Les Paul, 57 or 59 Gretsch Jet Firebird and a 69 Telecaster)..... :)
