Without a doubt, Ernie is now healed and walking the streets of gold. One of the finest people we have ever known, he was my little Buddy. I'll miss him dearly. Loved the Steel Guitar and his music. Nan, Belinda and the rest of the family our thoughts and prayers are with you. Ernie and I have played together in the Alabama show when Bill Cook invited us and several more shows. These are great memories for me that I will cherish. Ernie's favorite place and most recent was Lake Panasoffkee, Fl. He called yesterday to ask me to go along with him down there. May you now rest in peace Little Buddy. |

So sorry to hear of Ernie's passing. We had some great conversations about his love for Sho-bud Steels, Sho-bud Records, and his love of Gospel tunes. He will always be remembered as a fine gentleman and musician. _________________ Mullen D-10 8x5; Sho-Bud Super Pro D10 8x6; PedalMaster 5 Star SD-10 3x5; Dekley D-10 8x4;

Very sad to hear this. I built a keyless steel for Ernie a few years back. He would come down from north Florida to my home and sleep in the recliner at night, never would use the guest bedroom. I will miss Ernie. My condolences go out to Nan and the entire family. Martin. _________________ Several custom steels. NV-112 Boss DD-7 |

I found out that he played steel guitar for the Dixie Echoes back in the early 1970's. My son in law now plays piano for that group. I will pass the news on to them. So sorry for your loss. |

We first met Ernie at the Dallas show two years ago and he sort of took us in as this was our first time to attend the show. We talked about "wintering" in Florida and he offered to let us park our RV on his property if we wanted to come down and spend some time. Very friendly and helpful. We will miss him. God bless the Cawby family in this sad time......clark and lucy |

Ernie was my friend and I'll miss greatly. He sent me one of his amp stands last month and e-mailed that I overpaid him $5.00 and he owed me change. I said "Ernie, that's for you to buy Nan some ice cream". He later told me did. They didn't come any better than Ernie. Rest well, my friend. _________________ 2022 Brook Lyn, 2014 Martin 000-18, 2022 Ibanez GB-10, two homebrew Teles, Evans RE200 amp, understanding wife of 49 years. 'Steeless' at the moment |

Ernie
Loved to play his steel in just his socks.
Here he is playing his new Weenick steel at Martin's house in March of 2009.

Ernie was a great friend and an amazing person.
He had many talents beyond music and taking care of Nan and the family was always his first priority.
I met Ernie when he first became a member of the
Florida Steel Guitar Club.
Over the years, we have been friends and fellow steel players.
Nan, Belinda, and family are in my thoughts and prayers.
There was no finer person than Ernie.
I'll miss him a lot.

Ernie was a great guy, and a amazing steel player.
He was a good friend. There is so much that can be said about Ernie. But what remember is how he played steel from his heart. And your right Blake he was a amazing person.
