Over the years I worked on all the versions of Webb amps. I have spent much time documenting what I found and used for my amp mods. The link below will get you the info I have on hand. I used my own numbering system on the board layouts that matches the spreadsheet. Some of the parts may now be obsolete and you will have to search Mouser for replacement parts. If you can't do that, then you should not be attempting to mod such an amp. It used to take me 3 to 4 hours to do one of these, and that was with a lot of experience under my belt.
I no longer repair or mod amps. The shop only sells kits and such on the website.
This is all I have to offer, I offer no support for this information and assume no responsibility for its use. No one should attempt this mod unless they are an electronics tech, period! Too many mistakes can and will be made by a novice.

| Sometime in the 80's the preamp board was redesigned for a push-pull reverb drive circuit. Note the second preamp board is somewhat different and reflects this change. I did my best to number the parts so that one spreadsheet works for both boards. Notes on the spreadsheet will also show where there were some changes to be observed. When I ordered a kit it had parts to cover both versions of the board. Also note that the EQ board uses film caps as a replacement for the electrolytic caps in the filter sections. Also some electrolytic caps are replaced with film caps on the preamp board. |

Ken, you don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but what is the difference between the different types of capacitors, like film, electrolytic, etc... ? I have wondered about that for years. What determines what type to use in certain situations?

It's amazing how the original schematics I got from (Webb amp designer) John Campbell back in '79 (after buying an amp)
have made the rounds over the years. I scanned them and sent them to a couple guys almost 20 years ago, and after that I keep seeing them
showing up all over the interweb! They've almost gone VIRAL!!!  |

Jay, I'm sure you're not the only one
spreading it around back in the day.
As well as other guys, I've Xeroxed
(and later, scanned) Webb and plenty
other steel guitar amp schematics for
guys that needed them.

they're always the ones I scanned. John had told me at
the time they were the first schematics they were sending out (in '79). |
