I guess not .. anyway i ordered one so I will post an evaluation after a few gigs
with it .. I'm going for the rack model with the 600 watt amp into a 12 or a 15 or both depending on the venue .. I've got three different cabs i can use one with a jbl K120 one with a Neo 15 one with a 12 " Celestion 75 .. who knows might just be the best thing since the wheel ..

This looks really interesting. Please update when you have more to say. Pretty pricey but a very clever and unique approach to modeling.

Hey Scott, I don't have the Kemper (little too rich My blood at the moment) however I've heard nothing but good things about the amp...I hope You ordered the standard rack-mount version that just came out instead of the lunchbox version (Easier to carry).
Good luck with it, and let Me know what You think of it.

Both the Kemper and ax fx are the future. The Kemper is really good, but only repays the effort put into it. The advantages are that you can leave your vintage amps and pedal board back home and carry the rig into the gig under your arm. You can plug straight into the mixer too. You can also still use your favourite cabinet if you wish. I know one guy in a Pink Floyd tribute band who has programned the whole set and it sounds awesome. From what I know about the steel scene which is very little, you guys use very few effects in general, so appears overkill, but for somebody doubling on guitar then almost limitless. I have another friend who uses an ax fx in a Pink Floyd tribute too, but not so versatile. Hope you find it a great partner. The only problem I see, is that we are still in the early adopter phase of the concept and it may be some time before it is a viable alternative, cost wise. However if you have a pedal board with a dozen boutique and vintage pedals a vintage amp and cab, that capital outlay will probably approach and even eclipse a Kemper. No noise except what you programe, no 20 metres of patch cables, no need for Buffers and line drivers. The benefits are obvious. No need to carry a spare amp in case your 40 year old Hiwatt packs in.

Scott,

Yes, please do post once you get your new amp as I for one am interested in knowing how it works for steel. It is certainly going to be the wave of the future as the processing power of DSP's continues to improve.

As someone deeply connected to the semiconductor industry for 30 years, I would suggest that the DSP power is there (actually has been for quite a few years).

It's a question of learning how to use it most effectively, and deciding what parameters need to be modeled and how! Like almost all computing devices out there, the hardware leads the available software by many years.

Cheers,
Mike
