It's bad, real bad. Over 6 months since I have been able to play. I ran into a hearing problem and lost my tones. My guitar sounds completely out of tune. I am wearing hearing aids but still don't have my tones. The doctor says he thinks I might get the tones back. I have had adjustments on the aids but so far no good. I have been playing pedal steel for abmost 44 years and I sure do miss it...Does anyone know of anone running into this problem and later get the tone back?

Gosh Francis, The only one I`ve ever heard of was the deaf guy in the bible that was cured by Jesus. Hang in there and dont give up hope.
Of course I dont know much about your loss of tones, but someone else may.
Good luck to ya

Francis, does all music, radio, TV, You Tube etc sound out of tune to you? Or just the music you make?

I don't have a suggestion. Just trying to understand your problem and want to wish you a speedy recovery.

With my hearing aids I can hear a lot better than I did before the problem started. Since I have lost my tones most but not all music and singing sounds out of tune or off pitch.

Francis - Maybe allergies clogging up your ears? It's been a rough year for allergies.

I've had a thing happen to me 2 times that I hear 3 tones that are just a tiny bit off frequency from each other, the steel, and music, and voices, it only last a minute or so both times ,I put my finger tip in my ears and created a vacuum and popped them gently, it went away, I think its sinus related and plugged tubes going to my ears. Good luck, keep us posted. Rudy

I got minears disease a few years ago and music sounded distorted and like a flanger. It was worse when I was tired. At times it would be two notes different from one ear to the other. I had tinnitis too. I had to wear an earplug in the truck because I couldn't take the noise. I lost most of the hearing in my left ear and got a lot of it back later. I done a lot of research on line about it and started on magnesium and homeopathic remedies. A good health food store has lots of information and books that tell what the herbs really do. They cannot advertise the medicinal properties of them. I think that is the same thing that Lloyd Greene had. I got a hold of him by email and he told me about his experience with it. Good luck with it, it ain't fun. If I can do anything let me know. crunchcole@columbus.rr.com
