Tuesday would have been Sneaky Pete Kleinow's 79th birthday. A very talented man with a unique pedal steel style. Cool

My first introduction to Sneaky was hearing the brown Linda Rondstat record with Sneaky on the live side, and Emmons on the studio side--went out and bought a steel the next week....

I met Sneaky in 2005 at Blissfest in Michigan. Meeting him was like the time I met Chet Atkins ... humbling.

Skip and John - good to see you here. How come I knew you two would already have posted here? Smile

It's strange, I never thought much about "The Guilded Palace Of Sin" in later years. But this summer I thought alot about the time when I first heard it in'69. I rememeber quite clearly what went down then. My parents, my girlfriend and my school, and the record shop where I found it.
Thank you Sneaky!

And let's not forget some of the other artistic gifts he gave us such as GUMBY and his work "animating scenes for George Lucas' "Star Wars-the Empire Strikes Back". He also did work for Fantasy II Film Effects for the movies "Gremlins", "Dune" and "The Terminator". Interesting short read:

Thanks, Sneaky, stevet

I played keys on a gig with Johnny Lee the other night.
Had to refresh my memory on his stuff, and gave "Cherokee Fiddle" a listen. Wondeful steel track on that tune, with a really cool solo by Sneaky.
Pure Pete Perfection...

That was a very cool solo...I played on the original version by Michael Martin Murphey and it had a totally different feel...

Yeah, John...J Lee was talking about how MMM's version was slow and ballad-like. That's cool that you played on it.
