I've always loved the look of the Gibsons, and have been wanting to build something similar. Are all of the instruments in these photos made of solid wood? Or, are they part solid, part hollow cabinetry?
Amazing collection. What kind of vintage amps do you have on hand to play them through?

Don, thanks for the kind comments. The instruments have cavities, but no veneer to my knowledge. I have several vintage amps, but regularly use a Peavey Nashville 112.

GIBSON EH-185 8 STRING C.C. PU (Gibson only made 10 of these guitars)

Many older steel guitar players in Florida will know the original owner of this instrument, GEORGE "HULA" HINES, of Florida.

Mr. Hines had his own Hawaiian Show specializing in Hawaiian music and songs, and played in various U.S. cities, but mainly in South Florida. He played this guitar as a console by attaching legs to a rectangular case and resting the instrument on top of this make-shift stand.

I purchased the instrument, including case-stand with legs, from his estate in 2008.

Here are 4 of my consoles. pic#1,2,3: Maple 1954 Epiphone Zephyr [my 1961 Fender 400 in the background in first shot] :#4,5,6:Super compact [7.5lbs] 7/8 built by Marv Fluger with Keith banjo tuner on 5th string of A6 tuning for on the fly B11 stuff. Front neck is E13.#7,8: circa 1963 Sho_Bud Fingertip double NINE that I recently acquired. 6 pedals 3 knees. I HAD to throw that in there! Last:a darker version of the Epiphone that I just sold.

I am in shock. I went to several Music Stores here in Lawrence, looking for strings for the Wright Console rebuild. The clerk and I get to talking about it and another Console that was missing form Dad's Collection that he played over the years.

The clerk asked me if I remember a man that owned the last shop in the 60s through the early 80s? He tells me that the shop owner would really like to see the wright.

The clerk hooked me up with the guy and we talked for a couple hours. I told him about a missing Console of Dad's that was in the old store for years that dad traded for something. He remembers the Console and my dad. I also had pics of all of the consoles to boot. He showed the console to me and asked me about My dad and sure enough the pics of dad convinced him that it was the right console.

The owner was a clerk in the old shop until the 80s then he bought the store after the owner passed away.He remembered the transaction my dad made with the Epiphone. Well long story short...It will be mine tomorrow he told me he only wants what he paid for the instrument when the original store closed and the new one opened...A mere pittance of its worth now.

The only thing missing are the legs...I will find the correct legs for it, and a screw is missing on one of the tortoise shell covers, No problem there. One of the fret boards is worn in spots but all in all the epiphone is in really good shape I will not mess with the fret boards.I am so pleased to find this missing piece...Here is a pic.

Very Impressive Instruments. I love the design elements in all of your work. NO COOKIE CUTTER Designs there. Very nice work, they are all beautiful.are any of them for sale? and if so do you have a price list?

The fret Boards look like Sho-Bud style boards. Is this one you built? Or who is the builder?

Thanks, Jay, your Maggie is very nice, as well. In fact, you've had this 3 neck picture on the forum for some time and I remember saving it to my computer to serve as inspiration for me to continue the search for my Maggie that I love dearly.
