Ok this one I restored for Renn Carson from Bryan, Texas.
This particular LDG is made out of Hard Rock Maple for the body and birdseye maple neck as opposed to all Birdseye Maple; and has the sound to Prove it....AMAZING SOUND.
Has the new BL 910 in it and what a great pickup this is...my first experience with the 910...and Bill did it again...yee haa.

3 pedals and 4 knees>LKL raising 4&8 half tone>LKR raising 1&7 whole tone>RKL lowering 4&8 half tone>RKR lowering 2nd a half and whole with half stop on 6th string lowering a half.

I'll be playing this beauty with Heather Myles this weekend and is perfect for the gig.

Thanks guys that means alot. And thanks Joey for moving it...as I usually put it here; but someone got pissy that I keep putting these restorations up and I figured if I just ploped it in that other area; maybe they wouldn't get their feathers ruffled.
I'm not in the steel guitar restoration business....as I'm a full time musician; but I love doing these for folks and there are alot of folks; including myself> that like to see these guitars come back to or continue on with life......as the reason and only reason I put them up here for all to see and discuss.
By the way for those that don't know...LDG stands for "Lloyd""Dot""Green" and Dot is Lloyds beautiful Wife and has been by his side and a great supporter of Lloyd throughout his Whole Career.

Ricky,

Fantastic looking steel (and I'm sure it sound just as good). I know you're great with getting these older guitars to play wonderfully but could you please pass on some cosmetic tips on how you get the finish and the chrome to look so fantastic. It all looks so liquid and luscious (It's like you've got a food stylist shooting your pics.)

Johnny; that is hard to explain....and my answer may not be the answer your looking for...but I'll explain what I hear.
To me a single coil pickup, depicts the real sound of the guitar....but their noisey.
So I need a humbucker and always suggest one for folks.....and The Bill Lawrence pickups are the best I've heard that delivers that sound that That guitar has.
Now the difference that I hear between the different Bill Lawrence pickups is simply Power....as some guitars need a more powerful...and some less...
Every one of the Bill Lawrence pickups "To me" has always delivered the sound of the guitar and the tone I hear in my head....and I couldn't get with other pickups.
The 610 to me is great sounding and the least powerful and to me should be on those guitars that are very loud guitars acoustically.
The 710 is the more powerful one...
The 705 is sweet sounding too..and would say it's right between the 610 and 710....and the 910 to me; seems to have the same sound/output as the ole 705's....and again> everyone of them has delivered the sound of the guitar and the tone I have in my head that I try to get with every guitar I play; but the different guitars also naturally bring their own character to the table...and I dig that as well.

That was just a sincere compliment, Ricky - we wouldn't all get as much of a kick out of your refinishing work if we couldn't see it so clearly. What's simple and easy for you seems to be well beyond many folks, and like steel playing, it's not all just pushing a button. You obviously have "eyes" as well as "ears." Thanks for posting all the great "steelcake." Whatever somebody may think, I know you don't do it to brag!

And thank you Jack; I appreciate the support of me putting these classics up here for all to see.
....and yes indeed my only motivation for posting these that I work on; is for folks to see(and James got to hear)that their old Shobuds and Marlens don't have to sit in the closet....as they CAN come back to life and live on once again in sound and playability...and of course >BEAUTY.
