1975 Speedy West S-10 Sold Local

Post by Duane Keiper »

Speedy West S-10, 3 pedals and 3 knee levers. It has E-9 setup. I have a case that was not made for this guitar but it is strong and will work for shipping. I also have an extra Marlen knee lever to go with this guitar, a 4th knee rod is already in place. LL lowers 4&8. RL raises 4&8. RR lowers #2. SOLD LOCALImage

These old Speedy West models were built by the late Leonard Stadler of Marlen Steel Guitars in Reidsville, NC

Other than the label, what's the difference between a Marlen and a Speedy West?
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

given the age and my prior knowledge of older Marlen guitars, I am assuming this guitar has a Pull/Release changer......

looks like a Marlen, smells like a Marlen........
"Strayhorn Era" 1998 LeGrande III D-10 8x6, Nashville 400, Mexican Tele, and several Martins.....

Yes it is a Marlen. Speedy had an endorsement with Marlen and that was part of the deal that there was a "Speedy West" model....which is a Marlen with his name on it.
Yes that is a pull release...and what a beauty it is.
my very first steel looks a lot like it.

Mojo. About three-and-a-half gallons of AAA-grade mojo, from the looks of it. 8)
