Monitors with loud bands Mackie SRM-150

For you singing steel players.
I play in a loud band... Evil or Very Mad

and I have a Mackie PA with JBL speakers and monitors and can't stand to have a monitor near me.. because the acoustic guitar and lead vocal will take your head off Evil or Very Mad

I saw a local steel player with one of these and asked him about it.. leading to I'll check one out.
First my findings were that the Beringer knock off is not as clear or clean when turned up, especially on the bottom end compared by MP3 sound input.
With music playing thru it and turn up the lows it is pretty impressive for a little box!
The Mackie has an input on the back and 3 inputs on the front to control sound like a mixer board.
Works like a direct box to the board for instruments.
Line/Mic output on the back for send to the PA
You can put several inputs in and control between for the monitor mix and the input combo jack, which accepts either ¼" TRS or XLR connections. True 48V phantom power is supplied.
First night out live I just put my mic into it and then out to the board because I can here the rest of the band fine Rolling Eyes

It was like Wow I can hear my vocal clear as a bell and have the volume knob right there. I guess next time I will try running a monitor mix to channel 2.
It is really nice for practice running a BIAB, POD 6 or MP3 player into it and it is just right there within reach instead across the room.
Fits on top of a Mic stand and then the boom goes on top of the Mackie.
It seems a little strange and awkward at first and is more stuff to hook up but is a very versatile little 7 LBs unit for practice or live.
It is really designed for acoustic instrument and vocal input with MP3 or drum machine etc.
The sound quality is very good.

Ken, just got a pair of these yesterday, I play sax, piano, and pedal steel in our duo. I always struggled with hearing everything especially due to the fact that I'm seated for the steel and standing for the piano and sax.

These solved the problem! I have each on a mic stand to the appropriate height and they are awesome!

We are running backing tracks (wav files) through powered speakers and they come through crystal clear with these.

I was using this Mackie last night at practice for a steel amp with a reverb petal and out to the board and I am very impressed. Maybe start using it at some gigs for a steel amp.
A very versatile and useful tool for practicing, I can pick it up with one finger.
I can control my vocal in the monitor mix and use it as a steel amp.. This is really looking good.
