Reece was a ledgend, and a great GUY. We have lost another part of our history,but he will always be rememberd as MR MSA. i will miss you ,Reece, Chet

My 2nd steel guitar was an MSA Vintage XL. I ordered it direct from Reece and he was really nice working with me. That was in 1981. I ordered his CD, "Steel with Brass" a couple years ago, and he sent it to me with a nice note enclosed signed, "Reece." It's still a shock to me that he has passed. I didn't know he had encountered any health issues. My prayers go out to his wife, Teresa, and family.

What a shock to hear of Reese's passing. My first pedal steel was an MSA S10 with 5 and 4 and a few years ago I bought a 8 string super slide. We had many lovely e-mails back and forth and he was always so generous with his praise of my work with the Leavitt Tuning and other projects. I'll really miss him.

A true master of chords on the non-pedal steel and an ability to put real feeling into a melody.

Please let them know at Daddy's request there will not be a funeral.
He wanted to celebrate life and therefore they will have a Memorial Service in months to come.

Also, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to:
Teresa's North Texas Charities

They are also in the process of creating a Facebook page for Reece, where anyone will be able to post condolences, videos and any special memories.
They should have this up this week.

One of our great steel players may have left this earth, now his new home is with the Lord and all those other great steel players:
JOHN HUGHEY - SPEEDY WEST - GENE O'NEIL - JEFF NEWMAN - JERRY BRYD - TOM BRUMLEY ..................and the list goes on and on.

Maurice, thanks for the S-12 MSA XL-VINTAGE I purchased back in 1979.

Although death still has a sting to it, I am so glad that Reese is a believer in and follower of The Lord Jesus , and look forward to seeing him again - in the meantime our prayers go out to Theresa and the family.

I'm still playing the 1976 U-12 that I bought new. It's a model and year for transition and a design, from what I'm told, that Reece prefered to play. I would never sell it because of it's tone and sustain. I've conversed with Reece several times over the past 40 years. A great guy, great player and builder of a great guitar. RIP Maurice.

Maurice was a huge influence on my brother Jerry Case and me early in our careers.
He helped us in many ways and it was an honor to be his friend and musical associate. We Case brothers participated (together and separately) with Maurice on recordings and gigs during the 1960's
and 70's. He also became a wonderful friend to our mom, Floy Case, whom he met in the 1980's thru
their association with the Johnnie High Country Music Revue.
Jerry and I send our sincere condolences
to the Anderson family.

I am so sad to hear Maurice has passed on. He is the reason I became a pedal steel player in the early 70's. My first steel was an MSA Classic U-12...cut my steel teeth on that gem. And His recording, The Moods of Maurice Anderson, gave me the inspiration to push through the learning process.

He was always the perfect gentleman, and would always take time to help someone that needed his insight.

I will miss him terribly. I know steel players will be well represented by this fine man who, I'm sure, will rest in the presence of the Almighty.

Reece was one of the kindest men I've ever met. When I was 16, he allowed me to purchase a brand new MSA at factory cost, solely on the word of his cousin Jess Hudson (I didn't even meet Reece until much later!!). We corresponded every so often over the years and would hook up at various shows from time to time. He ALWAYS took the time to visit with a nobody player like me during breaks and after shows, when he himself needed a break after playing, but ALWAYS had his typical grin and enthusiasm to "talk steel". What an unselfish man! I also had the privilege to take a day-long lesson at his home in Keller and visit with Teresa. I will always treasure those times. I last saw him play at a Christmas show in Gunter, TX in December 2011, positioned in the background on stage and tearing it up as usual. I'm extremely thankful for being able to personally experience just a small portion of his legacy.

I bought my first 12 string from Maurice in the early 80's and never looked back. We had only scratched the surface of what he knew and what I wanted to learn. He was a wounderful person, host and teacher. I'm heavy hearted over this sad news. Brenda and I send prayers out to the the family. Reece, go rest high.
