Gary Carter’s New CD is Complete and Available!
What a brilliant player this guy is.
Gary has his own unique approach to the Steel Guitar.
For those of you that do not know Gary, he is one of the finest human beings I have ever known.
Check out the samples of all the songs on his new CD. The player is located just above his name.

Beyond His excellent playing
Of course Gary's playing is superb, but beyond that, I have never heard anyone else play with absolutely perfect intonation like I hear when Gary Carter plays. Does anybody else notice that? I've never heard a steel that sounded so perfectly in tune. Flawless performance in every way!

Just got my copy, WOW, Gary just shines here. Some of the songs are unfamiliar to me, BUT, WHEN YOU ARE IN LOVE WITH THE SOUND OF THE STEEL PLAYED BY A MASTER, it is OK with me. Something new to inspire one to start practicing again.
I just love this project. It broadens the use of steel in many styles of music. Folks buy this, there is something for everyone, classic country, easy listening, bluegrass etc.
Intonation, tone and creative great steel for miles.
His use of single strings coupled with pedals and slides is to die for. If you want to know what great blocking sounds like, check this out.

Just ordered my copy. Thanks to the USPS it cost me $25 but when it comes to Gary I would go to even greater lengths to get one of his CD's. I have been a sworn fan since I first heard Lighthouse Tale.
Gary has become one of the top level steel players in the world IMHO. Yes, Craig, his intonation is flawless, same as his hand and foot work. There is something hypnotic in his pedal work - just watch Lighthouse again, to see what I mean.
I predict that Gary is taking over from those who have retired. He is fresh and innovative.
Gary, more please!

Bent,
Back in 1968, I was playing my Fender 800 with "Tex Nobody". We were doing a show at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard one Saturday. The alternate band was a young family group from Virginia, called "The Carter Kids" For years I wondered what ever happened to that group. It just so happens that I hold the record for being the world's most dedicated Texas Troubadour fan. Well believe me, those teenagers played Steel Guitar Rag and other Troubadour instrumentals, note-for-note, right off the album. Ernest Tubb would have hired them on the spot. Anybody would have! Fourteen year-old Gary was playing an old Baldwin/Sho~Bud crossover. I think his sister was playing a 335, but that Saturday back in 1968, to my ears, Gary and Cheryl were Buddy and Leon. I agree with you Bent, he has a very special talent and this is only the beginning for Gary Carter.
Best regards,
Craig Baker

Thanks for the info, Craig. It is always heartwarming to read such a human interest story. I have long considered that when people are good on the steel during their preteens/early teens, they are the ones who move on through adulthood to be come truly great.
We have seen examples of this in Lloyd Green, Buddy Emmons and others.

Go to "Groove Shark" and type in "Any Old Road" and "My Love Follows You Where You Go" and you will hear two great songs done by Gary on this new CD. The first song is done by a bluegrass group Balsum Range and the 2nd one by Allison Krauss. Now imagine how good it sounds on steel.
You only need to buy Gary's CD and you will be the big winner.

Just got mine this week. What an amazing player! I was lucky enough to spend the day with him last weekend when he and the Connie Smith band performed for a private party in our area. Surreal and absolutely stunning! A more gracious person would be hard to find.
A day I'll never forget. Gary Carter is in rarefied air.

I received my copy of Gary's CD yesterday. A couple of the tunes were suprises...ones that I wouldn't expect to hear played on steel. Everything was played with great skill & style. I'll be listening to this disc for a long time to come.

Just ordered mine.....can't wait. He's way on top of the list of my favorite PSG players. Really looking forward to hearing this. Is that a blackface twin he plays through on the Marty Stuart show?

Terrific CD by Gary! Very in your face, modern tone, almost no twang here. If you dig Mike Smith, Jernigan, that great ZumSteel sound, you'll LOVE this album, trust me! Flawless playing, wonderful song selections.
