Penny Gilley show
Just want to say that I really enjoyed a singer on a current edition (the one featuring Lisa Layne) of the Penny Gilley show on RFD. The singer is the bass player in the backup band; I think his name is Curtis Jones (at least that was listed in the credits at the end). He did a version of "Then you can tell me Goodbye" that reminds me a bit of this one by Neal McCoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNCaBTSP79o
If I was giving Penny advice, I would tell her to feature this guy a lot more.

Phil Coontz (RIP) was the reason I used to watch this show.
When she got rid of him, I got rid of her, but just recently
I saw Jeff Agnew playing steel and really liked his playing.
The steel & the fiddle are the best parts of the show to me.
Occasionally, she has a great singer, but I don't care for her.

Dan,
I did pass along your comments to Curtis and he said to tell everyone thanks for the wonderful feedback and that he is most grateful.
Harold,
My setup depends on which show you're watching. The first half of the season I used my normal stage setup, which is a Revelation pre-amp into a TC Furlong SPLIT cabinet. The amp was off-stage (I use in-ear monitors). On these shows I was playing a black guitar. For the most part, it sounded like my usual live tone.
For the second half of the season (blue guitar), I was told right before taping that I would be going direct. No discussion, no explanation. No real chance to try out other tone settings or alternatives. This resulted in a tone that will shatter glass and give nightmares to small children. Needless to say, I'm not happy with the result and cringe when I hear it. But what are you gonna do?

Jeff thanks for the response. This last show had Bonnie singing My Window Faces South. It occured to my the guitar was a different color but I was not sure. Sometimes my tv does not have the best sound and I always blamed the tv. It does seem that the tone might be a little different now. Anyway you are doing a great job and the band is great.
