Newbie needs "tone" help!!!
Hello again to all. I'm looking for some direction to help me on the road to developing good jazz tone (swing to bop, more bop than swing). Which CD's or internet links demonstrate the best jazz tone on a pedal steel? If you know what kind of gear was used on these recordings, that information would be helpful, too. Thank you in advance.

Find a great player in your area and have them show you proper picking tecnique. Steel is absolutely not like other instruments in that tone settings and equipment have very little to do with how you get a sound you like.
If you get your right hand together you will be able to get the tone you want.
You can save allot of time with a bit of one on one with somebody who knows what they are doing.
Chuck Lettes and John Macy come to mind for guys in your area.
