I've started a photo gallery on the JCH Registry page at http://www.graboff.com/JCH_Registry.html If anyone would like to feature their JCH's in this gallery, send me 3 photos that you think best represent your steel to jon@graboff.com and I'll put them up.
We have 9 guitars listed so far! Thanks, Jon

Jimmie, John and Eldon Mitchell built me a D-10, JCH in 1985. I no longer have the guitar but if I recall it was about the ninth or tenth one made. I used it on one album with Gene Watson. It is cherrywood mica and had 9&7. I'll try to find the info on it and post it if I have any luck. I'm sure Elsie has the info. This horn also had an original equipment neck selector toggle switch and tone control defeat switch much like the Emmons guitars rather than the push-button neck switches that were standard on JCH guitars. These were mini-toggles and smaller than those found on an Emmons.

Well, I just got the last one ever it seems, so if anyone starts a registry, I'll furnish the specs. to them for the guitar. It is a ten D-10, 8-4, deep wine color. It was ordered by me three years before Jimmy died, and is somewhat custom, but very wonderful in the "JCH" mode. Many folks saw it "on the shelf" while Jimmy was building it, the color was hard to forget.
Don't know what I'll do with it but in the future, who knows,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Tiny Eldon was the one who was telling me the age of mine. (serial#1051) He is a wealth of info regarding the JCH. Bobby I would love to see a pic of yours. Actually I would like to buy it but spare cash comes later this year. I just spent my wad on a recording studio. Still love to see it.

I had a couple of very nice chats with Elsie Crawford and she has most graciously offered to supply me with the complete production information from the JCH Guitar Company. I'll get a copy of the records the next chance I get to go to Nashville, probably in February or March.
In the meantime, feel free to send me any information you have on these wonderful instruments. Thanks also to Tommy Minniear for your help in contacting Elsie!

Jon,
I have a red JCH D-10 8&5 serial# 2086. I picked
up this guitar at the steel guitar convention in
2000. I was neighbor's with Jimmy and I use to
go to his house and I would help cut parts and
Jimmy let me help put some of the guitars together.
He let me do some of the work on my own guitar.
I ended up moving to Missouri before my guitar was
put together so Jimmy and Buck Reid finished the
guitar for me. My first name initial is on the
inside of the split tuning bars as Jimmy wanted
me to personalize my guitar for the work I had
done. I still have the guitar and plan to never
get rid of it. I will e-mail a photo soon.

I have 2 JCH guitars. My D10 8&5 "Tomato Puke" was made for me 3 guitars after Jon's carbon fiber guitar and an SD10 that was built for Lloyd Green and from whom I purchased it. Jimmie built the guitar for Lloyd at about the time Lloyd had decided to go back to his Sho~Bud exclusively so he didn't feel he needed it. It has a blue top with a brushed silver front and it is a great sounding guitar but it doesn't sound like a Sho~Bud. I think I got my D10 in 03 and the guitar made for Lloyd was an 01 but don't hold me to the exactness of that statement.
JCH Registry
I don't know if you are still trying to get this registry working out. But I have a red D-10 and the serial number is #1014. It is a 9 pedal x 10 knee lever-"Crawford Cluster".

Tommy Minniear wrote:Here is a picture of my JCH. It was assembled after Jimmie's passing with the approval of Elsie Crawford by Gary Rittenberry of Rittenberry Steel Guitars. In a desire to honor his friendship with and Jimmie's memory, Gary followed Jimmie's strict guidelines for the build as close as was humanly possible. Elsie requested that the the serial number be 9-17-35 to reflect Jimmie's birthdate.
